To be fair Masi, I do see your point in terms of it looking like we’re working through every source of funding, which in some cases could look worrying (and certainly would have done under the old ownership).

When you take each in turn though I think they all make sense, and again this is against the backdrop that the alternative is Sharon’s own cash which she quite rightly just won’t do:

Gov’t - pay us back £[5]m or we’ll accept 8% of your business instead. It valued us at about £60m from memory, which is mental (and shows how uncommercial our government is). I don’t expect the original plan was to have the gov’t as shareholders but when someone offers you at 2 or 3 times the true value of something then you’d be crazy to turn it down.

Fan bond - normal borrowing routes are closed, and even if you could find someone willing to lend us £4-5m then they’d be charging 15-20% interest due to the risk. The bond is a way to borrow money, which can be invested into the club to improve it (as all businesses do) when more conventional routes aren’t available. It’s also a way to reduce the cost of that debt by playing on supporters’ goodwill. Again, it makes financial sense to do so and supporters are happy because they’re getting more than they would if the cash was in the bank (albeit more risk) and helping the club.

Swiss investors - mentioned it before but if you’re happy to dilute your own shareholding then why not accept outside investment if it’s on terms you’re happy with?

Other points - naming rights. Finding a fan who has an emotional attachment is probably your most lucrative deal worldwide. No matter how big a company is, the market value of sponsoring a league 1 stadium is exactly that, market rate. If you have a fan that can afford market rate, but is also happy to pump more money into the club because of the emotional aspect, then you’re probably going to get more than if you got Coca Cola or Amazon to sponsor it.

No issue with you having a different view on the ownership by the way, nobody should have to agree just because the majority do and it’s actually good to have a level of scepticism and scrutiny to keep everyone honest. I’m just pointing out a few areas from a strictly financial perspective which I don’t see why they would do it any other way.

very well countered....The Government £5m for 8% was a non brainer. The Swiss investment again looks a perfect fit but everything seems behind closed doors.  Why did FV not go to the Swiss for money to pay for infrastructure changes that i find strange.  The cynic in me says FV did not want to dilute there holdings because by the time that money is re-paid they will be out the club and it will be up to the new owners or the Swiss to pick up the tab

It’s doesn’t mean you’re wrong, however, from all available evidence you can see there is a plan, the ground, infrastructure and squad are all in much better shape than when FV arrived. If you’ve something negative to say, back it up with hard facts.

I am in no way having a go at FV and if they sell up i hope they go with a great big profit and a eternal gratitude and warm welcome back anytime they return.

Anyone who bought us out at that time would leave us in a better state could we have sunk any lower.

The plan was a three year plan on getting us to the championship and then they would re-evaluate..They have got us to the brink of the Championship  but the club has now got Debt despite having 20m plus pumped into the club by outside sources ie Government, Swiss investors and the fans Bond scheme. I said no player has been brought through.....Yes the can be a strong case for Thomason. The infrastructure has not been Addressed ie the roof and the training ground at Lostock. Everyone has bought in to the re-growth of the club and that has helped.

We have a home average of 20k despite us all knowing that is false. The naming rights of the ground we was told would leave no stone unturned. Toughsheet three miles from the stadium was chosen and yes again can not have a go at Toughsheet........Great backers and supporters of the team. A interesting six weeks coming up and lets see where we are come the summer

To be fair we have 3 or 4 at least who we could expect a decent fee for if we sold them like George, Toal, Santos and Dion and even Johnson once he’s fit again. We even reportedly got a potential bid on Victor so there is clearly value in the side and it wouldn’t surprise me if young Will Forrester turned out to be a good one too. It takes time and I personally think we’re doing ok to date. Getting into the Championship is the key which just in itself would raise the value of our players if they do well there.

I 100%  agree on what you are saying and yes i think we can make decent profit on players we have signed. The one part of Markham/Evatt/FV have excelled is signing players close or at the end of their contract.

He probably one of those that thought Anderson was the saviour, we’ve some strange fans.

No i was one of those that knew about Anderson from Southampton and said so at the time

Just because i dont conform to your sheep herd mentality does not mean i am wrong

  5. Doubt there has been a time in our 150 year history where we never bought a player through in that timescale.

Great that they saved the club and Sharon has been a great role model but i hope to god these Swiss backers have got a better business model

  6. No player brought through in the near five seasons running the club. Money invested in the club since.  Government, Swiss  and Fans bond. Obvious they cannot sustain the club much longer and need outside help. Fair play they saved the club but they certainly have no long term plans

Because they were following Evatt’s side to side system but surely this proves we need to bin that and get at teams because we’re so much better when we do.

Been calling for it for a long time.....Tonight fair play to Evatt and the team

  8. I think Evatt was the right person at the right time for the club and i think Bolton and Evatt have progressed together.

In that time Evatt has been Ruthless and driven in his football beliefs.

Just the kind of manager this club needed. Alarm bells rang for me with the home Defeats of both Wigan and Carlisle

I posted on here about him not willing to change formation and not having a plan B.

Since then we have done pretty well and us natives have gone along with the way we play. The Northampton game give a slight glint of hope that he would change the system if needs must. Alas that was just a stop gap and the few weeks have led me to the conclusion he has brought the club as far as he can go..........Yes we can get promoted then what

Our team cannot play his brand of football in the championship. We wont have 70% of the ball against teams like Norwich and Burnley etc

I dont think it is coincidence that we have a terrible record against teams that come to play against us with a high press

  9. It is like anything in life around the world Supply and Demand. Bolton is growing as a population weekly. These are not local people but immigrants for whatever reason are getting shipped into the town Local people cannot afford rent  but it matters not because the rent is covered by Universal credit Government agencies.

5,000 houses are being built in the town centre these will all be for the rental Market. Houses popping up in Farnworth ,Kearsley, Horwich and Westhoughton

And numerous large houses are being turned into HMO

Nobody can get a NHS Dentist in Bolton and if you ever had the mis-fortune of going to the Royal Bolton say goodbye to twelve hours of your life.

Fly tipping everywhere, nobody but locals working. Pension ages rising because we cannot afford anyone not working.

Youngsters fucked out of there heads on weed...............But at least we can beat Cambridge

have a good week-end and thank your lucky stars you got out of this shithole

How do you think this squad would do in the championship?

Evatt will be gone come October.....Too pig headed to change his style or mix it up

    Hope i am wrong

  11. A win is a win so upwards and onwards but today and all this week i have give a lot of thought to Evatt the way we play and next season.

If we stay down i think we will thrive next season and the squad and Evatts football will get better with this team.

Go up and in all seriousness Evatt wont change the style of Football he has ingrained into this squad and i see when we play teams like Burnley, Norwich and the like we will get beat week in week out....

I dont see us changing the squad much in the summer as most are tied to long term deals.

I will always want a win but if Evatt is to grow this team i think long term another season in league one wont hurt us

Most will go against this view it has just been a shit week

I'm sure in the last 13 years since he joined Birmingham he's had plenty of coaching on how to cross a ball.  He's 27, he isn't improving now, and that's not a criticism, just how it is.  A bit like coaching Santos how to head a ball in the opposition box or MJ Williams to shoot from distance.  We sign the finished article in the vast majority of cases (Tomo an exception with his youth, made great progress).

Evatt has said he can coach and improve each player here........It is never too late

I'd make a few changes today to freshen it up - not as a knee jerk reaction.

Ramsey for Cogley, Forester for Toal, Dempsey for Maghoma and Collins to start. I'd even be tempted to start Morley for Sheehan

Agreed with most.....Cogley needs a rest and personal coaching how to cross a ball. Forrester for either Toal or Jones

Dempsey for Maghoma. Collins obviously for Gomes and i would always start Sheehan unless injured

  14. Is it just a few Rich Executives who fancy investing into Bolton as a Hobby or they think they can turn a profit if we reach the premier, or is it actually Trafigura whose turnover is something over the £300B......Yes Billion yearly

Dont think they have anything to do with sport what so ever

So you're saying Evatt is the worst manager in the Football League? Aye alright.

You should either be a politician or a Cricketer because people say one thing then you dont read it right and put what you think they say.

Fuck off upstairs and get that wax washed out of your ears, come back down and start again

We're joint 2nd on goal difference, with a game in hand on 2nd place - who lost at home to Charlton last night.

You obviously know better than me, and Ian Evatt. So what's the obvious solution that means we win every single game?

Stop playing with Cogley on one side and Williams/Iredale/Ogberta/Ashworth on the other side

Mix it up play through the middle give our forwards some service

Evatt and the way we play has become predictable.......We have some seriously talented players for league one but they are not all playing to there full potential.

It is easy to throw that out at me......second in the table and you know more than Evatt blah, blah, blah

I will throw it back to you any decent manager would get our squad promoted

Already said Evatt deserves to stay until May.........Then he will either lead us to the Championship or need replacing

  17. Looks like they are willing to back the current board, and in turn FV are willing to accept dilution

Of course there will be a time very shortly when share percentages even out or FV will have to start investing more personal money into the club.

This could be when the Swiss take over and FV walk away with a nice profit, either way it looks like both sides have the clubs best interests at heart

I must be looking at the wrong League table.

I made a post about our forwards not having a shot on target

And in that league table you are viewing are we in a automatic promotion spot????

No point in spending around 2m on our frontline if they are not getting the service...........I have come to the conclusion you know fuck all about football and just a wind up merchant

  19. How many shots did our frontline have last night................Zero, None, fuck all

Theres our problem, play it wide cross low, gets cut out repeat

its slow, tedious and will win fuck all  wake up and smell the coffee

Thought he was a class act for this

Can’t believe Vale have given him a 5.5 year contract. Not that I think he’s a bad manager at this level.

Seems the Chairwoman at Vale has just sold her company for 180m  guess Moore Salary is loose change
