Beaten by a side that, in truth, were just... better over two legs. Would have loved a jaunt to Wembley (in Kent for a wedding Saturday so it would have been perfect), but you know what? - We've improved on last year (again). - We won a cup (the first I remember, and ill never forget). - The fans are flocking back (although, I miss my legroom tbf). We weren't ready for a promotion, and that's fine. We didn't perform brilliantly against a side that deserved it more, and while its disappointing, thats also, kind of, fine. We're on a journey. I love that we're in the third tier, still *trying* to play the game beautifully against cloggers like that. The last week was shit. Really it was - for me, there's no point defending it, castigated it, or overanalysing. But honestly, I'd rather buy into the long term project we have here; building our way back up from death's door towards something massive; than yo-yoing between tiers 2 and 3 like your Barnsleys, your Rotherhams, your wage-dodging jokers down the A58. I'm proud as fuck of this club and what it stands for right now.... and I can't wait to see what next season will bring. No single flaccid evening in South Yorkshire will change that. COYFWM

Nerves are kicking in for me now too. Sure it's still a great season if we lose tonight, and it would be infinitely less painful than losing at Wembley, but... I want this!🙂

Fergie Time has just fucked Fergie Jr. Wow.
-
If Wednesday get through now, I really, REALLY wouldn't fancy either us or Barnsley against them. Momentum and all that...

Credit where its due. Well done Neil.

Pretty much my thoughts word for word. +1 I'd add in that Trafford was excellent and Williams did well going forward (if not a tad suspect at the back).

Is Barnsley's ropey form more down to them not really having much to play for in the past few weeks?

A personal favourite from Roversways: "Fuck off Preston. Uve never won Fuck all. U fucking dingle cnuts. Ur city is shit..uve no history. U bunch of hillbilly cnuts"
-
Happily, Preston doing their bit to upset a revived Rovers. Haway the lads.

Comedy away defending at the Den. Whoopsie 😆

At a wedding in Spain, shitfan. Booze flowing still, result(s) massive. And wigan down too, glorious. We'll shit anyone in the playoffs. What a season.

You're not wrong. And they've got an incredible manager with a phenomenal mindset (that our beloved IE is a student of - read The Barcelona Way for an insight). Without wanting to drop any earpiss platitudes (🙃), did last night feel as "real" as the Gillingham game? I dunno. If we got bought out by a billionaire, I would want to think that the feeling of that second going in in the third rate pizza cup would be pretty damned hard to top.

I'm with you on this. Watching the home fans celebrate beating their only title rival last night, they looked a little bit... muted. Sanitised. A bit hollow. A bit PG. Wheres the jeopardy for them? They know they're going to win the league most years, play the same old, same old teams. Theyve become everything they used to slag the red filth off for. I'm not really that fussed if we don't see the Prem again.

Hopeful of a win but these kind of games, where the lesser side still has plenty to play for, are definitely banana skins. I expect a really tough first half, with class eventually to show. 2-0, and playoffs pretty much assured.
-
I've been wanting them to drop, dead last, all season... but there's now a real hope they go down by less than 3 points. Bliss.
-
Outstanding every time I've seen them play. Brighton have got a really, really good side... I hope they don't get picked apart in the summer by the likes of Liverpool.
-
😆 I'm not expecting the festival of football you are! 1-0 win and no injuries please. They'll be scrapping for every ball.
-
Still don't understand why he's the fanbase whipping boy. He's done well since he came back from injury, and seems to be getting better all the time. Just maybe let's not have him 2 yards out ever again 😁

It's probably for the best that the second half sitters were a full pitch length away... we thought George's miss was a corner 😬. Christ I don't want to watch that again. We'd have all taken a point beforehand, but that feels like two dropped. A shame that, after our goal coming from a deflection after a shot, that we didn't gamble more around the box near the end. But then, with skied long range efforts a-plenty... shooting practice all week needed. Still well in our hands.

Just back. Went via the in laws in Coventry for the weekend. Got back to Cov around 7, set off home after some tea around 9. Ukrainian Easter, so absolutely stuffed with cheese and smoked sausage. Great day so far. Breakdown just after Keele: radiator coolant hose gone. Great. 3 hour wait, with irritable missus and excitable labrador... to get towed to Sandbach. Quoted £300 and another 1, 2 hour wait for a different lorry to get home. "Fucked off" doesn't even cut it. So instead, my absolute saint of a mate (originally Everton, but now a BWFC ST holder for 2 seasons, and coming to Burton on Tuesday) picked us up in his Fiesta. We'll fetch our car tomorrow (today 🙃). What you do for 3 points, eh?

Huge win, backs to the wall. Car park was shit. Up the fucking whites.

Lots of criticism flying about for the starting lineup. I didn't have any there to be honest. OK, yes it was a bit pedestrian and not enough showing for an out ball, but it was comfortable. And it's a squad game, coming towards the end of a long season - there had to be some changes! My only... query... towards IE's decisions regards the subs coming on just after the goal. Sure, Nlundulu offered a lot (more so than Victor, who I'm still not sure about), but hooking the more defensive Thomason for Kachunga was a strange risk. Felt like an attacking sub you'd make when 1-0 down, not up! Never mind. We were fortunate to win at Exeter, unlucky today. On Thursday, we'd have all happily taken 4 from those 6, and we have got that. To those suggesting we should be pasting the likes of Cambridge because of our respective league positions- it's going to be a hard few weeks for you. A lot of upcoming opponents are going to be scrapping for survival - I honestly cant see any 'easy' games left - home or away!

£11.60 a game, potentially in the Championship? Fantastic value 👏
-
Really big win away from home, when looking far from our best, and without Santos. We'd have lost that not so long ago. No need for squabbles or negativity - enjoy the 3 points, enjoy the sunshine, and bring on Monday.

+1 I was barely holding back tears on Sunday. Win, lose or draw at Exeter, and its on to Cambridge, irrespective. For me, it's not a fair comparison, however you try to look at it.
