  1. Looking forward to seeing if the captaincy change makes a difference. Hopefully reduced responsibility will let Santos get back to himself, confidence wise. 3 in the middle should help us too...
  2. Ill Swear It Again, hopefully with these backroom changes, we will really see What Makes A Man, and Against All Odds, this will become a Season In The Sun. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/westlifes-top-20-biggest-songs-on-the-official-charts__25303/
  3. Ok, it's "only" Barrow in the tinpot trophy. But there's something to be said for them coming back like that in the 2nd half, in horrible conditions, when there's already huge (deserved) pressure from the fanbase. Cracks papered for now. Hopefully there's a great big bucket of Polyfilla arriving at Lostock over the international break.
  4. Toot toot, HMS Piss the League is getting ready to sail.
  5. Absolutely rank that... has this been mentioned to the other 86 League clubs anywhere previously or is this just *yet another* chasm-widening measure that has been slipped in, under the radar, without consultation? ---- Oh, and also, Dempsey to start as one of the "front 3", for me. Nice to have the ability to transition back to a more dense midfield when defending.
  6. Incredible. Safe trip home to the hardy souls forking out for that shit.
  7. Never a booking for Matete!! One of those days, ffs.

That's where I'm at. I don't see GT being dropped, or deserving of it. Thomason was excellent (particularly first half) Sunday. Sheehan struggled to find his man and seems unwilling to beat a man or make a tackle. Particularly in the slugger away games, I can see Matete and Thomason being our two CMs. As an aside, it might have been said, but I don't think all 3 of McAtee, Charles and Collins can start. Where's the impetus in the last 25 if none of those come on? Arfield isn't that man, and as much as I love him, neither is Dempsey. Wouldn't mind either or both of them starting behind a ratter like Charles or McAtee though... gives options in the late stages.
  9. It's a really great thread this. This spread of memories, from different people at different ages - all remembering these split-second moments in time when a club from a pretty deprived northern mill town stuck two fingers up to the world. Reads like this make you remember why you put in the hours, the miles, the money. It's a collective love letter to BWFC. Just seen a couple of kids (12, 13 ish) walk past, in City shirts. For all the trophies their choice of multi-national brand have won and will inevitably win... they'll never *really* get to experience this.
  10. 0-0 v Coventry was mentioned and I'd almost forgotten how important that game was in my personal Wanderers journey. I'd lapsed a little bit in the previous couple of seasons, but the lead up to that game (which doesn't need revisiting) meant I'd have sold my mum to see us for just one last time. The whole situation was so dark, we had a fanbase who were genuinely talking about watching Colls or sofa shopping on Saturdays. Seeing the kids sweating their all for the badge and getting a result, was, for me, as spine-tingling as Forest, as seeing us win an actual trophy v Plymouth, or staying up late on a school night to watch us get a late draw at Munich on Channel 5.

Looking at their squad, it's probably more through necessity than choice. 19 players on the wikipedia squad list, compared to our 29...

Also good for Scrabble. Would get you 68 points including a 50pt bonus for using all seven tiles. And if you get it on a triple word score - well, that's maths beyond even the FFP accountants at Chelsea 🙃

Coward's "tackle". And Evatt gets a booking for protesting - a joke.

Drab half. Well done to anyone who's turned out in the rain for that. Genuinely - at least you've not had to listen to this dour commentary!

Wouldn't mind us having a little go at the LC. Not to the detriment of the league of course, but I hope there's still a strong enough side to progress against Mansfield, who will probably make a few changes of their own. Am I right in thinking the PL sides not in Europe join in the next round, and there are no replays? Would fancy us at home to a slightly weakened Everton or Wolves for example - should we get there! Sack the Papa John's off though.
  21. Tell that whopper at Wrexham 😁
  22. So: - Some kind of terror-linked horror may take place on UK soil - May be committed by someone who doesn't have ancestry reaching back to Tudor England - May happen in an unspecified period of time. Under the vague statistical parameters your post inferred, you're probably right. I wouldn't bother taking it to the bookies though, the payout will be shite. Deport all the Muslims, just in case! While we're at it, better look at getting shut of those sneaky Irish too...
  23. Not an insult. Just an observation.
  24. That would be a real knock back down to earth... but it kinda makes sense. I can see us accepting an offer pushing £2m, which would be a hell of a turn of profit, and pretty much exemplifies the model we're working to. Especially when we know Rovers would have plenty of money to spend (theyve just turned down £6m for Szmodics). It would also pay for much of our business done so far. I love the idea of having 4 good strikers for the division (+ Dan!) but that's surely us being super wishful. Although, as Swanny says above, he's probably not our best any more. Collins has looked great, and while I don't know much about McAtee, he's our first 7-figure signing in how long (since Spearing?!)... he's not a benchwarmer. Even Vic started to show his worth back end of last year.
  25. For a fleeting second, that did enter my head, but I then genuinely thought, "nah, surely nobody is *that* unhinged." Jesus Christ. Or should that be "Allah"?
