Exactly what @CumbrianWhitewas saying last night.

Wish we would identify things like this in game and change our system to counteract it.

No idea why we don’t bring off a defender and bring on an extra forward player rather than doing what we did last night which was bring Dempsey off, play Collins in behind Charles and Nlundulu.

Forrester had a stinker, was like watching Aimson in possession again. Spare man constantly doing nothing with it. If we’d brought on Randell for him, we could have had Collins and him on the wings and had a different element to our game.

He isn’t walking anywhere. No manager ever does because it will mean they don’t get paid out, even more so when you’ve got shares in the club and I can only see that the clause attached to that will be “you can’t have these if/when you leave (obviously), if it’s our decision we pay you out, if it’s your decision you hand them back”. It can’t work any other way and therefore he is not walking anywhere.

One for the end of the season anyway. Long way to go yet and despite his shortcomings and my frustrations with him after last night’s game, if he still takes us up then he’s very much here next season and so he should be, if not then there’s a question. Until then, it’s all a bit premature.

Fair points and I do agree, why would you leave when you could get a payout by digging your heels in?

I do think the board have treated him exceptionally well though and I think not getting promoted would really damage his ego and he may want a break. For that reason I do think there’s a chance in this instance he could walk.

I do hope I get to see him shed some tears of joy upon promotion. These last few years must have really taken it out of him. Trying to rally yourself to go again after going close to promotion twice in a row would not be an easy task. Whereas promotion would spur him on and incentivise him.

I think it’s Playoffs for us at this point. I think we will get to the final where we will either win 5-0 or go out with a whimper in a drab 1-0 loss. Don’t even want to think about penalties.

  3. Happy with the job Evatt has done and wouldn’t mind him for another year if we fail to go up. Stability is an underrated commodity in football. He’s a good manager, not yet shown himself to be excellent though. But do you want to risk starting from scratch with a new man?

I feel he Evatt needs this promotion for the fan base’s support in general. He’s had 3 seasons to build a team capable of League 1 promotion and too often we’ve been lacking in important games and moments. Some bad luck yes - but when it’s happening consistently it is difficult to keep taking it. The Wigan defeats, the Blackpool loss, the Derby loss.

Dont think last season was our “time” to go up. Seemed written in the stars for Sheffield Weds, but this year we’ve had an easier league and Evatt has built this team with substantial funding and backing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he walked before he was pushed should we fail to go up.

  4. Didn’t think I could handle the playoff stress last year and ended up being two utterly boring games. I was just generally pissed off rather than having experienced some sort of emotional roller coaster, which is what I had been expecting.

I really hope we get autos obviously but if we are in the playoffs then I hope it’s at least more exciting this time.

Saying that, I will happily take the most tedious 3 games ever if we go up.

  5. Great result for us today, only 4pts behind Derby and Mendez Laing for them is now injured.

Derby have to play Blackpool then Portsmouth back-to-back.

Portsmouth still have to play Derby, us away and Barnsley at home.

4 home games out of the 7 total remaining. Still time for redemption. Be a few more twists and turns left. 5 wins puts us on 89 points.

Need a winning run now, have to believe it's possible. Praying the lads can pick themselves up and prove the doubters wrong. If we get promoted this season and England win the Euros, could be the best summer you'll have for a while!

Think we missed four sitters and a penalty. If he's still got a head when he's fit he's in.

Fair point, but Dion has missed his fair share of sitters too, see Pompey (A)

Wouldn't have Williams there neither- particularly away.

    Miles clear of Ogbeta imo

    Ashworth done alrifht lately

  8. .                  Baxter

    .        Toal Santos Iredale

    Jones        Sheehan       Williams

    .     Maghoma.     Thomason

    .           Victor.    Collins.

to see us out to the end of the season please

  9. Take a point all day after being 2-0 down but really should’ve won that.

A weird positive for me is Cogley’s injury. Was class start of the season but him and Jones on the right have been doing fucking nish lately and they’ve been arguing every game.

Jones RWB for a while could actually be a blessing in disguise…

Why don't we have this intent from the start. We'd drill the likes of this lot more often than not

Because we got one goal on the counter and now they’re sitting off and letting us play

Toal will develop in to a cracking player, but we need to find a way of having him on the right hand side of the three.

Would love to see what him and Santos would be like as a back 2, in a 4-3-3 at some point

Bad feeling currently that it will be playoffs again.

Tough run at end of Feb, Blackpool and Wigan away back-to-back. Then in March - Barnsley, Derby and Stevenage away.

Those two runs of fixtures are definitely capable of being season-derailers.

Sorry to be negative - hopefully we batter them all, especially the local derbies. :D

    😭😞

revisiting my post from early january.

12 games left to go on a good run to propel us into the auto spots seems unlikely now given that we have to play all of the other current top 7 teams

  13. Chances I can remember are

    1. Toal 30 yarder

    2. Toal free header

    3. Lofted ball to Maghoma in first half on right hand side. Shot blocked from 7 yards.

    4. Ogbeta shooting near post in second half when he should’ve crossed it for Victor

    5. one or two low crosses that got blocked. On another day would’ve fallen to one of our players but didn’t.

    6. Sheehan free kick that went just wide

so we did have chances to score but absolutely nothing for Victor or Collins and nothing for JDB and Jerome when they came on. And only 2 of those were from open play

  14. Evatt saying post match that we  dominated the ball and dictated the tempo of the game is such a nothing comment.

We dictated the tempo because they literally camped in a low block and hoped for a smash and grab, which worked.

You simply cannot use that as a positive when there was no intention from the opposition to contest us dictating the tempo.

  15. Allowed ourselves to be sucker punched by doing fuck all with the ball in good positions for 90 mins.

Rigid and structured in possession is all well and good until the final third when you need someone to take a risk.

    Shite

  16. I’d rim a tramp for 3 points tonight.
7 games next month including Barnsley and Derby away.

Win against this lot could give us the momentum we need to go on a run when it matters most.
