  2. It's a cliché but form goes out the window in these sorts of games. Dreading it but that's what makes the spoils even sweeter if we win. Like it or not, to me, Wigan feel like the Spurs to our Arsenal. I know for some they are too 'tinpot' to be classed as that but the rivalry between fans has grown massively over the last 10 years. The Uwe Rossler comment I think really sparked it, and then the following administrations of both clubs and reaction to that from both sets of fans days inflamed it further. Surely can't be worse than the last time we played them at home but given how we've started and our aspirations for the season, a loss would feel particularly gutting. A draw I can live with. But I wouldn't take a point now if you offered it to me.
  3. Please just beat these lot for once, we’re overdue
  4. @Eddie glad you highlighted Dacres Cogley. Wasnt a signing that was too exciting on paper but he’s been class every time I’ve seen him play. You’re right Bradley always wanted to dribble with the ball a lot. Cogley seems to want to beat a man and get the ball in. And he’s done that with a lot of quality so far. Two assists last night. Very happy with him as first choice RWB but we defo need some cover for him or he will get burnt out/injured
  5. Agree he needs to reel it in sometimes and he’s said as much himself in interviews but tinpot is an odd word to use arteta pep Klopp all are equally if not more rambunctious on the touchline
  6. Think there's only one answer - Gotta be Dan Nlundulu Bod just back from injury, Jerome not good enough at pressing, Mendes Gomes more of a midfielder
  7. Red took the shine off an otherwise excellent performance. Fleetwood looked dangerous and unlucky not to score earlier but we are looking clinical in ways we haven't during Evatt's tenure. Red got the crowd pumped up though. Dan looked good when he came on so hopefully will be an apt replacement for Charles on Saturday who we will miss
  8. I maintain that Sads has had his best games for us coming on with 15 mins to go as a LWB when we're all out attack. But feels like a waste of a squad place currently. Jerome I'm uncertain on still. Really not seen that much of him. I think he's a useful bench player to have but can't see him contributing significantly to our season, on the pitch anyway.
  9. . Coleman; . Forrester, Toal, Ashworth; . Sadlier, Maghoma, Thomason, John; . Gomes; . Jerome, Nlundulu Would be our full rotated squad. Wouldn't be opposed to resting to one, or a combination of Dempsey, Jones, Santos, Cogley, Charles Too soon for Toal I believe and Bodvarsson. Would like to see CMG get a start against his old club. Doubt Sadlier or John start or even play but we will need to rest Williams and Cogley eventually. Imagine Ashworth on the left, and Jones at RWB is more likely. We shall see in 30 mins whether we rotate or stick with the winning team. This is a game where we can afford some rotation though

  11. Meanwhile chelsea are apparently signing Caicedo on an 8 year deal (with an option for one more year) for 115m quid https://t.co/WuX9jjgNgZ
  12. Baccus on Bolton deal collapse St Mirren ace Keanu Baccus reckons the collapse of a summer move to Bolton Wanderers was a blessing in disguise following the Saints' superb start to the season. The Paisley side made it two league wins out of two after defeating Dundee which followed up an opening day victory at Hibs. Australia international Baccus eventually turned down a move to English League One side Bolton in the summer and opted to stay with St Mirren. And he has no regrets about the decision. He said:
  13. There’s conflicting data @Dr. Feelgood Our pitch is 4m longer and 3m wider according to transfermarkt I ran the numbers like a total virgin and if my figures are correct, it would mean the ToughSheet pitch is roughly 9% bigger than the Completely Suzuki one your info is from Wikipedia/FootballStadiums.co.uk I trust transfermarkt personally as yours still refers to Cheltenhams stadium as whaddon road but who knows 🧐

  16. If we can do it vs Cheltenham on their tiny pitch I’m sure we can do it vs Fleetwood on ours. I think I’d genuinely rather lose 5-0 to Fleetwood and beat Wigan 1-0, than lose 1-0 to Wigan and beat Fleetwood 10-0
  17. https://x.com/hubfootballuk/status/1690737202978832384 Thanks @Zico and @Cheese tried that but still doesn’t work for me. Not sure if I’m being thick. I tried amending the hyperlink too. And waited for like 5-10 seconds after pasting to give it time to work. Tried with different links https://x.com/burndenaces/status/1691026887261229056 tried pasting into my notes app, deleting the url parameters and then pasting to here - which did give me the “pasted as rich text - paste as plain text instead?” Which is what usually shows up when I post Twitter links. I know to not change it to plain text though. https://x.com/burndenaces/status/1691026887261229056 not sure if I’m encountering problems doing it from my phone as opposed to a laptop or if I’m just doing something silly im Sure I’ll figure it out eventually 😆
  18. https://x.com/hubfootballuk/status/1690737202978832384 only the 600 odd passes vs Cheltenham as opposed to the 700+ in the first couple games. But this is looking like the brand Evatt I dreamed of Now Twitter has turned to x.com, Twitter links don’t seem to embed anymore. Cheers @elonmusk
  19. Cracking strike from mcmanaman tbf. Very similar to what McLean did against us. Hard to judge what level they are at. 2 wins from 2 in the league vs Derby and Northampton. Still have some good players from what I can tell. That front four looks dangerous for League One level.
  20. Must have crunched the numbers beforehand and figured it was worth it. On the YouTube channel the videos only got a few thousand views for interviews and maybe 15-20k for highlights. Youtube ad revenue will be very low for those sorts of numbers. I’d imagine it wouldn’t take many WTV subscribers to equal and surpass the YouTube advertising money In terms of streaming the games live, I’m not sure how much benefit there is to that over ifollow
  21. https://t.co/P5cTe23HHq I reckon he’s defo off. Met our valuation of him. So good deal for the club for a player we picked up for nowt. A chance for GT to play in the championship and probably up his wages significantly. It’ll be what he dreamed of at Longridge. I think he will be reluctant as he has a good relationship with the club and manager in particular but the pros will probably outweigh the cons for him Happy for him if he does go, and gives us a bit more money in the bank which could come in useful
  22. Have to put these shitcunts to the sword ahead of Saturday’s derby game to give us a bit of a leeway. Wigan at home will be our first real test, I expect us to brush aside Fleetwood, hope I’m not in for a nasty shock. Ideally we smash the cods 5-0 and go into the Wigan game with full confidence and make August a 100% win ratio in the league. Have some tricky games in September with P’bro, Reading, Shrewsbury and Derby. Have to say though - so far, the team this season have looked a level above last season. Our build up play and decision-making around the box looks much improved. Dempsey is playing like a man possessed and Vic/Charles look like a theyre forming a very good partnership. COYW
