  1. So if Posh lose at Cheltenham tonight it’s basically a dead rubber on Saturday. If so what sort of team do we put out, a full team or one made up of a fair number of squad players because we surely can’t risk injuries or red cards in a game with so little meaning. According to Fergie he’s putting out a largely reserve team tonight so he clearly isn’t concerned where they finish. Even if Posh win tonight should we risk players on Saturday?

Trying to mate but I just can't.🤷‍♂️

We beat em at home this season and but for a ref, missed chances and a sending off would probably have beaten them away so where’s the worry? Fact is we’re better than any of the others we just have to make sure we turn up and prove it.

  3. There’s absolutely nothing to play for at Peterborough so no point risking our key players when we have a squad capable of producing two teams that could deliver. I agree, rest AC, give Dion another hour and Dan the same. Leave George out as he’s not been brilliant last couple as well as Paris who we definitely will need and start Morley and Demps instead. I’m not sure IE will see it that way though? 🥴

  4. Crazy decision for me but where’s this new manager bounce going to come from? What serious manager would want to come in at the 11th hour with a squad they don’t know and risk losing out? It would be a miracle if they won and let’s be honest, the Tykes squad isn’t brilliant whoever’s in charge so the odds are considerably stacked against them. I think they’ll wait and bring somebody in after the play offs, assuming they’re in them of course?

  5. Well we will finish 3rd because even if Posh beat us they won’t overcome our goal difference, so it’s going to be one of Blackpool, Lincoln or Oxford, hard to see how it could be Barnsley given their GD is worse than the others. I just don’t want Blackpool, any of the others will do.

Not being funny here but is there any logic in replacing Collins with Jerome? All it signifies to me is that Evatt has given up any hopes of challenging for the automatics. I know Derby are winning but if Vale feel they’ve lost we could sneak another couple in before the final whistle. It would still put pressure on Derby next week and we have put 5 past Posh at home before.

Well slap my thighs I should have kept Schtumm! 😁

  8. Ok it’s going to be a tough ask but there’s every chance that Derby can slip up at Cambridge just as we did against Salop on Tuesday, they will still be under pressure because they need to win to keep that gap between us, so we have to keep believing and do what we failed to do on Tuesday plus with a few goals. The Vale fans are expecting to get mullered so let’s not disappoint them. A good win for us and a Derby loss still leaves us with a real good chance of avoiding the play offs so let’s all get behind the boys until our chances of automatic are nil.

We don’t play to his strengths and that’s annoying

No we certainly don’t Big E and I frankly can’t understand why IE signed him. If you look at his Burton goals, all but 3 were in and around the 6 yard box and that’s also true of most of Vics for us. He just isn’t an “Evatt” player who runs about chasing down defenders but get him into the danger area and I’m sure we’d see a completely different Victor. If I were Vic I’d be looking for a club that suits my style better because he’s always going to struggle here since IE won’t be changing his methods.

One of those players above have been fit for the past 2 months.

Said it a million times. Nobody is winning promotion with only 3 fit forwards that include a 39 year old cwt horse and bod who can't score.

To be fair to Bod in two critical games at Pompey and Derby away he was only denied game changing goals by incredible point blank saves the one at Derby leading to Dions miss and at Derby arguably Wildsmiths save of the season.

He may be but at least he knows how to get there.

He’s on a 5 year contract isn’t he and why would the owner sack him if he’s achieved their aim? Derby isn’t Rotherham, they’re not going to sell their best players under him like Rotherham always did and then not replace them. I believe their embargo also ends so they’re free to do what they like and a big part of that will be ensuring they stay up. I don’t see Warne being sacked at all and expect him to really surprise people.

We finished the game with 3 strikers on the pitch and spent the whole second half camped in their box. Taking a defender off wouldn't have made the blind bit of difference.

We just make really poor decisions when it matters most.

Our players aren't as good as we think they are.

    This 100%.

How did we end up with three centre halves still on the pitch by the end of the game? It’s stubbornness like that which really lets Evatt down.

Morley or Sheehan had to come on other iredale or Forrester who where both terrible with distribution the entire game.  Credit to maghoma who was by far and away the best player on the pitch.

Yes I was surprised how poor Forrester was tonight, he has nowhere near the forward capability Gethin has and JDC looks half the player without it but he was just dreadful and Iredale not much better.

I said after the Pompey game whilst I didn’t fear anyone in the play offs I fear the play offs. We just don’t have the level of performance we showed v portsmouth over 2 or 3 games on the trot. They don’t deal well with pressure, don’t often turn deficits round in our favour and are so easy to score against.

We’ll limp in to the play offs now with a couple of Meek performances v’s Vale and Peterborough.

we are the epitome of Bipolar in football terms

Yep I’m afraid when the going gets tough we just go.

  15. Play offs it is then so at least we can concentrate on that but that was hard watching, some absolutely dreadful stuff. We just have no composure in our play and set pieces and throw ins are just abysmal. Very disappointing but we didn’t deserve anything more tonight.
