He'd seen umpteen British PMs and one or two US Prezzies come and go. He's sat there watching and thinking "soft useless bastards, I'll humour them"

2p would be okay as long as it's spent properly. Sick and dying UK citizens makes me sick... NHS and proper care come first in my book

I've been "edgy" on this forum regarding Ukraine... I still believe the Russians have a grievance regarding how their objections were cold shouldered regarding NATO expansionism during the Bush administration... whether this justified an invasion I do not know. I wouldn't describe Putin as a "victim" but he has a point of view, and he is a very well established President of a very large and potentially powerful nation.

He was a Latino but maybe with some pervy-ness. They had just won the World Cup. She smiled after the event, why she didn't she just slap his face and knee him in the bollocks? Unconvinced

That's called playing Trump at his own game 😉 "Fuck you I have the mineral deposits you, Musk and Uncle Tom Cobley all want and you can all now dance to my tune" It all comes down to who can piss up the wall the highest at this stage

I realise our special forces are always lurking in various theatres but I still maintain that the current Ukrainian land army are probably the most competent combatants owing to their achievements over the past 3 years and as your suggestion, if we actually gave them the very best kit to go alongside the extremely effective low-tech drone weapons they have developed...
-
They have adapted their command structures according to the theatre they are operating in. The UK & US won't be as adaptable, they'll have all the best toys but none of the savvy the Ukrainians have gained, put that with the stamina and fight they have demonstrated and you'll see what I mean. Maybe put them alongside the 2nd Paras who share the same level of violence, give them the best kit and they would certainly dish it out.
-
The Ukrainians are probably the best fighting army on the planet, better than the UK or US or whoever owing to their bang up to date actual man on man (or drone on drone) experience. Give them the dogs bollocks in kit and they'll probably do the job. I think they could become the basis of an European Army. Didn't Mr Z but a ban on all men of fighting age leaving the country in the early stages? I was talking to some cleaners on a site late last year, they were Ukrainians and told me they couldn't go home as they didn't want to fight (I think they were pro-Russian)... I don't know how "legal" they were but I left them scrubbing the floors

I knew Ibbo the pilot... not personally but to say hello to. The aeroplane was kept in the same hangar at EGNE Gamston and he was mixed up with some shady characters, the bloke who was sent down tapped me up a couple of times regarding work but I was pre-warned to stay clear.

You heard here first folks!!!

The bus is parked at EGNE

I hired a plane a few times which, unknown to me, had been previously intercepted smuggling cannabis (lots) from Amsterdam... every time I returned from a European jaunt I was always met by special Branch... after the third time or so someone at the airfield tipped me off telling me how it was impounded and stripped down. Every time I filed a flight plan or switched on the transponder I was lit up like a good un and tracked by the RAF!

There's no age limit, lots of guys come into it later in life when they've got some spare cash... late 40s is a bit too old for the big jets as airlines like to get them young but you can always move onto corporate and "air taxi" flying eventually. I had a few interviews with people like Thomsons but it was always "we'll give you a call when we need you" and it never came... could you imagine a rough arse builder in charge of a 50 mill jet? Likkle planes usually have a range of at least 4 hours (some 6 hrs) at 120mph in a straight line... so it's 3 hours x 120 miles keeping an hour back for diversion. I'm ready for a cup of teas and a piss after 2 or 3 hours. Le Touquet and Ostend are popular with British fliers for a day out. I like to head towards the Western Isles and Oban stopping at Prestwick for breakfast, Dublin is good for a weekend.

Once you've got private licence it's for life, just need to fly 12 hours per year, do a one hour check ride every two years and keep a medical certificate similar to a lorry driver's. It used to be 40 hours of practical tuition minimum, I think it's still about the same number of hours but expect to take a bit longer owing to weather etc., then there are some multiple choice exams. It really is a very enjoyable experience and you meet some great people. I am a member of a nine man syndicate owning the aircraft in the picture, my share cost me £3,500 eight years ago, I think they're worth £6,000 now so I'm in pocket. We all chip in £90 per month for hangaring, insurance and odds & sods and pay for our own petrol when we go out, she burns about 6 or 7 galls per hour depending how much umph you give it. Big bills are discussed and we all chip in, nothing very frightening when there are nine of you. Some folk spend more on second cars! Then you might want to get a bit more adventurous and add night ratings and instrument ratings like I have, I played with the idea of instructing for a wage about 20 years ago but it came to nowt. The car is actually the wife's... she brought it brand new in 1996!!!!

Sorry... but I'm getting carried away by the weather... had a really good day doing oil changes and things... you're more than welcome to come for a ride, not lost any punters (yet)
