  1. I'll keep my loose change and car keys in it
  2. Contractors are now required by law to refuse to carry out works they KNOW to be non compliant with ADB 2010...sobering thought
  3. US probably will withdraw if things continue as they are. As I pointed out earlier, Europe and its war alongside Ukraine being fought with Russia will stretch the EU economy, while the three big blocs of USA, China & Riussia will expand and thrive. Europe's governance will hinder anything positive... Brussels is like a Parish Council on steroids. Incidentally we've recently deployed anti drone measures to Belgium because they don't have such equipment... they spend less than 1.4% GDP on defence. In my opinion we need to further our relationship with the US in the way India has with Russia. Europe and Ukraine will become an isolated conflict, in Trump's eyes not too dissimilar to Gaza or any other "arsehole" countries (his words)
  4. Pictures please
  5. Good place to visit if you want to buy a tractor or potato pancake 🙂
  6. Northern hemisphere political blocs breaking down into China, Russia and USA... the 3 blocs need to trade and Ukraine is a hindrance, if Europe and Ukraine want to keep fighting on then they will be overlooked. Bigger deals to be had in the views of the super powers... this why Trump wants Canada and Greenland as part of his expanded USA. Also why he is talking to China and next Russia about trade.
  7. There might be a chink of light... Building Safety Act came in after Grenfell, I was sceptical whether it would gain traction but enforcement has been put with the HSE who like to prosecute... they have appeared on a couple of my jobs lately so maybe. Up to 2 years imprisonment and unlimited fines for contractors knowingly carrying out work not complying with Building Regs Fire Safety Document.
  8. It was all about John Prescot cutting the red tape. There was a boom in privatised Building Regs Surveyors employed by the Builder Developer. Previously Building Regs were enforced by Local Authorities. Total conflict of interest.
  9. Public Inquiries just seem to delay justice in my opinion... obvious law breaking gone down but plod cannot do anything while there is a judicial inquiry proceeding....makes no sense in my book.
  10. I was undergoing a BRE fire safety audit on the day the report was published... to say the two auditors were "distracted" was an understatement... their testing manager was found to have assisted Kingspan by unofficially doctoring the test samples rather than doing his duty and simply turning the gas on in the furnace for two hours. There was an email somewhere "they are confusing me with someone who gives a shit". I also recall a few years prior to Grenfell being asked to leave a design meeting because I told the project manager he might as well wrap the building in an oily rag... the architect took my point and removed the Kingspan. Old hands like me could see the risks being taken and to be truthful, saw it coming... I saw the pictures at breakfast time and said to the missus... ACM and no cavity barriers. I now spend my working days putting cladding defects right, keeps me in work but what I see is shocking. No prosecutions. Can kicked down the road.
  11. I wish I shared your trusting views. In my world they will all make guffawing noises and then it will all be filed away under "things we got away with" Any collars felt yet after Grenfel and Postmaster inquiries?
  12. So it was a £200 million backward looking, lawyer led ,pointless exercise (to quote the Institute of Fiscal Studies) after all. Nothing gained and everyone gets off scot-free.
  13. Bombing is easy Peace is hard
  14. We've got the 800 page Publivc Inquiry report now. What happens next?
  15. Bomb the bastards
  16. Fuck off
  17. Especially when you're flogging them a sky full of F35s
  18. Defended the murder and dismemberment of a journalist, probably fake news... move on
  19. Had to happen to young Casper 😆
  20. We just don't get those days with "heat inversions" where you get on the hills and can see for miles anymore... all wet and windy. Although it has been pretty crisp over here for the last couple of days
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn0gd98z1dro 😆
  22. It would be "interesting" if it happened, she does appear to be the most "Tory" of the Labour mob. Home Secretary is an impossible job... Home Office needs breaking down
  23. "Parasocial" according to the Cambridge Dictionary "describes a connection that people feel with someone they don't know - or even with an artificial intelligence"... bit close to home? What's yours? Mine would be parasociopath 🙂
  24. Would she walk across the House if that happened?
  25. It still could be the best country in the world, I am a little disillusioned but I'm now too old to bale out so I'll just keep plodding on and do my best to be British. "Life is shit and then you die"
