House prices/rents in Bolton

Just had a look at the old school house in Harwood and for 2 bed apartments now starting £1200 including fees. Who in their right mind is paying that here. One of its features ‘close to Manchester’ amazing.

  • Supply and demand innit - you living close buy will always bump the prices up

  • I imagine where T lives as the epicentre of rent prices with decreasing value concentric circles expanding outwards.

  • I bet Casino's house has doubled in value due to its proximity.

It would help if they'd explain where meadowcroft is- can only assume its one of the big houses near what was the driving range?

Some dwellings have been built on the old club house area, so maybe it's near there?

Anyway, just been out with the hounds and witnessed a bright rainbow which seemed to emerge from close to your place. That will have put up neighbouring rents! 😀

None of that LGBT shit comes out of my house mate😂

Unless at @DazBob has been over.

Very good!

Still, might be worth having a look over the estate for a pot of gold...

First rule, or maybe one of the first, of Planning is nobody has a right to a view

Unless it is of St Paul's Cathedral.

I had a look at house prices when I was back, I was very jealous about the prices. For what we're paying in rent I could be living in a 5 bed in Bromley Cross that looks like something from Dallas (and just as grim to be fair) or a decent place in Smithills - but over £1,200 is few and far between - seems like its lots of 1/2bed smaller properties. Buying something sizable for a family is do-able without needing a million, which is what the normal family houses round here go for, unless you want drawbacks such as no garden or no parking etc

Yes there is a protected view, think it starts around Richmond

But every one else, nope

I was stood outside a place for rent on prospect view just before Christmas. Does that no count as the exclusive belt?

Never heard of it, so couldnt comment

Half way up Hardy Mill. The row of white terraced houses running perpendicular to the road.

No. They were built on the old petrol station. Prospect is further up on the opposite side.

Bryngs ish?

Now then, the place I was stood outside was opposite the school. I always believed that was prospect view. Was also shown to be the location of someone I wanted to visit on Google.

Yet strangely, when you put a search of prospect view, bolton into Google maps it can't find anything!

I can help as ive just scouted it

Prospect avenue

However, thats on the same side as the school

Is it a new place, as Google maps again shows no prospect avenue in Harwood?

Going up the hill, further up than bryngs, same side, runs at right angles to hardy mill

Old terraced row

The sign actually faces hardy mill on side of the end terrace

Cheers. I'm intrigued, must have a look next time I'm round that way.

Prospect Ave is up near me. I can't remember a petrol station at Lower Fold, before my time?

What's with the funny houses on the corner of Greenwoods Lane? Looks like a garage.

Odd shaped bungs r us, is greenwood

Looked a couple of times but theyre definitely of their time

Not sure if i remember it being a filling station but it was a car wash in my time int village

So prob went about 20 years ago

Fucking 20 years

It was fuel, manual car wash (coin-op high-pressure lance with a couple of minutes of shampoo) and a garage/MOT station. Peter Hall, the scrap man was the MOT mechanic. They did car sales on the then disused forecourt then sold up and moved the sales business to Bury New Rd area.

Gradwells was very similar; fuel, MOT, drive through car wash (brush type) The car wash became Nigel Liston’s first spray booth.

did they have fuel til the death?

i only remember car sales and car wash

think i used to use that car wash when i was in ainsworth

No. Fuel finished, can’t recall dates but the tanks were filled with concrete, pumps removed and the whole forecourt ended up as a car lot.

Isn’t little lever still one of the cheapest places to buy in Bolton? Which is pretty strange considering it’s not that bad (apart from the locals having webbed feet and 6 fingers)

Fuck off.
