Re: Biggest Flop.

Lardel, yes.

I'd also add Lettucehands Crellin to the flops.

Elmander, no. Elmander was playing out of position at the same time as referees and defenders got wise to SKD getting free kicks for nowt. Consequently Elmander didn't get the service and Bolton stopped getting decisions in and around the opposition box.

David Ngog was awful, but actually scored more goals for us than he did for any other club, a sad indictment of his prowess.

Assuming a £40k/week wage, each goal he scored for us would have cost us around £640k, making him marginally cheaper per goal than Johan Elmander.

Biggest flop, in context, was Len Cantello.

Add Allardyce's header v Sunderland around '73 to the super-goals and his 35-40yd shot v Orient, Easter of '77 to 'great long goals'.

It may be me but Worthington seems to be missing from several categories.

I accept it's an age thing but Frannie Lee deserves some respect. Lofthouse is probably beyond most of our memories now.

diouf at brum - nolan last minute winner, i think

okocha at spurs

jussi at hull

He was unplayable that night think he was still on loan. I will add Jussi at Blackburn to the best indivdual performance and John Mcginlay against Wolves & Spurs, and David Lee at Anfield, Frank Worthington at O.T. So many individual performances its virtually impossible.

Jermaine Johnson debut v Arsenal. I was astonished  & thought we'd unearthed Pele. Never rose to that height again.

Abdoule Faye v Arsenal also. He out-Viera'd Viera.

Goal against ... Malcolm McDonald in the FA Cup 3rd round 3-3 draw, Jan '76. That game is up there with v Liverpool and v Reading as best matches ever.

A random individual performance that always sticks out in my mind is Steinsson against Bale when we beat Spurs 4-2 the week after Bale had just torn apart Inter/Maicon.

All eyes on Bale, sure it was on telly and Steinsson rocked up cool as you like, pocketed him and scored himself.

Another random Right Back performance I thoroughly enjoyed was Joe Riley's debut against Stoke in the league when we beat them 5-0, he looked incredible and then got torn apart by Jerome Thomas a week later and barely got a look in again.

That's my favourite long ranger too.  It looked, to my young brain, like the hardest shot I'd ever seen.

Biggest waste of space financially has to be Sordell doesn't it? I know it's not the done thing to have a pop at someone with mental health struggles but his woeful lack of return did nothing for mine.

Matt Taylor scored a blinding free kick away at West Ham once, I think.

Biggest flop for me, Jermaine Beckford, biggest waste of a wage ever.

Supermac's goal against us that day in 1976 was a purler

Most upset as a young lad in the 70s when we were robbed of promotion last game of season as Wolves got some horrendous decisions in their favour

Fck him & his "mental health" issues. Never turned his wage packet down, did he !!

To think, we'd tried to sign Wilfred Zaha but baulked at the final £½m on the fee ... so swept in & nabbed fckg Sordell who must have been as amazed as we all were.

Never selected ... until he got a start in the Blackpool match.

How I utterly loathe Freedman.

Throw in a category for Best Opposition Performance and I’m nominating that Adama Traore show when he was at Middlesborough under Parky.

Antonee (stupid spelling) Robinson got thrown in for his first game to try add some pace to the defence instead of Taylor and just got absolutely torn a new one.

I thought Traore was going to be an absolute world beater after that performance. One of the only times I’ve ever witnessed an opposition player getting applauded off from both sets of fans without leaving the field on a stretcher.
