I wont be far downstream later on walking the dog. Anything in there would probably end up at the wyre estuary in between knott end and Thornton :(

Have a rate of the water. You’re finely tuned senses might detect something untoward

Just spoke to a lad from the rivers trust. He reckons the level is really shallow at the minute. If she was in there, shed have been spotted.

The plot thickens.

Has anyone made " an emotional appeal " yet ?

It'll be them.

Dick.

Harsh. That’s a standard Wanderersways response. I didn’t even raise my eyebrows.

not only is it standard, we know that the cops use it

got to say, family member, prob male, would be up there as favourite in my book

it'll be grim to find out shes been killed, but its looking very likely

No such suggestion from the police yet.

An interview with a lass from the local paper saying just this, and that the focus seems to be on the river and a terrible accident.

Maybe a bit but come on there's a missing lass..is she still missing?

Many on here still consider Madeline McCann a great hide and seek player. Obviously not really but call it sick, dark humour or whatever, it’s how it is.

The dog was bone dry apparently, so they don’t think she’s gone in after it.

She may have just done a Traf and fucked off. Folk do it.

Be good for the result of one of these stories not to be something awful.

The bench is immediately adjacent to the river. Quite possible she slipped down the bank, whether going after a dog or not. Dog wouldn't have had to have gone it, could just have made her fear it would.

Also on a conference call to work, which may have been distracting.

How deep/strong is the river? Don’t know the area so is it likely the currents are powerful enough to take her?

Yes. Wouldn't need to take her far, as pretty soon the tidal effect kicks in and eventually it opens out significantly at Knott End etc.

Typically, a flow of water up to the knee can knock a person over, so someone injured/unconscious for example may soon be in difficulty.

Eurgh.

Fingers crossed she’s just gone a bit daft and ended up on a train to london or summert

Gonzo says water is very low.

There's hardly any current either. Im currently typing this overlooking one of its main tributaries and its all just swirling with no direct current.

Think that's the most Ive ever said current in a paragraph.

With the water that shalow and clear surely drones wouldve picked up a body floating about? Theres no sign of commotion either.

Earlier today (Thursday, February 2nd) we released a CCTV image of somebody we wanted to identify as part of our search for missing Nicola Bulley.

We have now identified the woman and would like to thank everybody who shared our appeal and phoned in with information.

Our search is continuing today for Nicola (pictured below), 45, who went missing in St Michael’s on Wyre last Friday (January 27th).

An investigation was launched into the circumstances of her disappearance while a large and extremely thorough search has been carried out in the area. These are both continuing and at this point there is nothing to suggest any third party involvement in Nicola’s disappearance.

We can now confirm the following timings from the morning Nicola was last seen:
8.43am – Nicola walked along the path by the River Wyre, having dropped her children off at school
8:50am (approximately) - A dog-walker – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her walking around the lower field with her dog. Their two dogs interacted briefly before the witness left the field via the river path
8.53am – She sent an email to her boss
9.01am – She logged into a Teams call
9.10am (approximately) – A witness – somebody who knows Nicola – saw her on the upper field walking her dog, Willow. Work is ongoing today to establish exactly what time this was.
9.30am – The Teams call ended but Nicola stayed logged on
9.35am (approximately) – Nicola’s mobile phone and Willow were found at a bench by the river by another dog-walker.

We continue to have specialist resources from both the police and other emergency services in the area searching a significant area of land around the river off Garstang Road. We also have divers in the area and are using underwater drones to search the full length of the River Wyre downstream. Our police dogs have also been out searching.

We are really grateful to everyone who has come forward with information so far and would continue to ask people to get in touch if they have information or concerns.

Nicola is white, 5ft 3ins tall, with light brown shoulder-length hair. She speaks with an Essex accent. She was last seen wearing a long black gilet jacket with a hood, black jeans and olive-green ankle wellies. Her hair was tied into a ponytail.

Anybody who has seen Nicola, or has information about where she might be, is asked to call 101, quoting log 565 of January 30th. For immediate sightings please call 999.
