Tbf I am pointing out our record against the other top teams is poor which is fair indication they are at least as good as us .

We are on form but being matched over that period by teams we need to catch

https://thefishy.co.uk/formtable.php?table=3

Bet365 have us at 9/1 to finish top two which seems fair, my point is that catching teams who are above us, in form that matches and have games in hand is a big ask. Ipswich have wobbled and come back to the pack. Sheff Weds are showing no such signs, neither are Plymouth. Derby blinked for first time this weekend. Wycombe seem to be improving. Barnsley hanging on in there, Shrewsbury I think will come unstuck against the better teams.

Of course we could do it and I would love it if we did. Not sure my arse could survive the play offs so would help my blood pressure if we could make it.

I'm not convinced we will catch Sheff Weds or Plymouth, ask me again after the PJ final (whether we get there or not)

but we can finish 3rd I reckon, we're in the chase just as much as Derby and Ipswich are right now

Doesn't take into account the games the tip teams have left against each other.

Can't all win them.

your stats are fantastic and thats all that matters

but of those 6 teams, on what i have seen in the games we have played against the 6, id put it as

top

sheff wed - even thats on the back of a mad 5 minutes on our part

derby - reckon they shaded it at ours and beat us fairly convincing at theirs

ipswich even, poss just their advantage in the one game, which was away

us

barnsley - battered em away but both games at ours couldve gone either way

you - i think we were better than you in both games, moreso away!

bottom

which is a tribute to how good you are at taking your opportunities, i guess

yourt home form alone might even get you up

i just cant see it though - it will definitely be some feat

And if we lose to MKD tonight?

Lusty, give it a rest eh?

what happens happens but it does feel like you cant help getting in first with thoughts of impending doom

One game at a time etc etc. Although TBF the stats are interesting reading and all that but as we get towards the business end of the season when all manner of weird results tend to happen they're about as relevant as when folk talk about the historical record between clubs i.e. different teams, years ago.

If anything is useful at this stage I'd plump for how many games we have left against mid table teams with f*** all to play for as you'd expect those at the top and bottom will be spilling their tripe for the cause from here on in.

Think you're giving Derby too much credit based in your assessment

That’s it

folk are saying the others have easy games this Saturday these are the twists for me

Defo. Also while we look good, we aren’t good enough to move to the one after before the one up coming if you know what i mean.

I’d genuinely be delighted if the wheels have fallen off at Ipswich though.

The goal difference gained over the last 2 games is worth another point in the play off stakes, for that reason alone can’t see us not making the playoffs at the very least.

i was looking at this last night.  we're now level with plymouth & ipswich with 25GD. sheff weds with 33GD

Can definitely not see Wednesday bottling this, and can't really see Plymouth bottling it either, hope i'm wrong. As for the play-offs, close one to call but would think whichever team goes into it with the best form has the best chance of going up.

The current top 5 are pretty equal. Anyone could beat anyone in the play offs. I think everyone would fancy Wycombe or Barnsley over the rest.

be very fine margins across both the semi’s and the final

Re Plymouth. Maybe not impressive against us but they just keep grinding the wins out.

After Derby away I was probably the most pessimistic I've felt for a long time about our chances and was resigned to bottom two play off places at best.

I still think play offs, but a home second leg could be the game changer.

Their home form is a massive factor too. 14 wins and 1 loss from 15. One game at a time is all we can do.

I can't believe we only have 6 home games left this season!

5 games ago (after derby loss) our record was

12 W

8 D

7 L

44 points from 27 games

1.62 ppg

now it’s

17 W

8 D

7 L

59 points from 32 games
1.84 ppg

looks much healthier

it's funny, after I was thinking we should make the play offs if we can keep picking up home wins

listening to local radio, their phone in was fans who thought they were now going to go on for automatic

we've won 5/5 since

they won their next two but got 1 point from last 6 and need to win both games in hand to go back above us

tighter than a gnatts chuff

based on that alone, plenty can happen yet in the final third
