If that's the case I apologise. I'm just feeling grumpy after that performance.

I imagine Evatt is too although he won't say so publicly.

Politic looked decent when he came on don't you think? :)

You carry on feeling grumpy after a great 3 points!! 🤣

TBF I'm more relieved than anything. Main thing is that the win kept us 3 points ahead 7th place if Posh and Wycombe win their games in hand.

My take is we started very poorly and Vale took a deserved lead.We then seemed to get a kick up the arse and finally woke up and scored 2 in a very good 20 minute spell then we reverted back to playing like the first 10 minutes. Mbete was poor and I've got reservations about Shehan.2nd half we looked labored and Vale played descent until they got anywhere near our box which resulted in not really creating much

Anyhow we got the 3 points in what was a poor game and it got bloody cold

We were below par certainly but I never felt like we were in trouble. They put the ball in the box a lot but I don't think they created a lot. It's pressure but they never got in behind or had a 1 on 1, just get it wide cross it in.

Maybe after the high of Wednesday we were always going to get a flatter performance. On to the next one.

Phew.

Vale played well. Made it difficult.

Sheehan and Shoretire together were too lightweight physically, which made our press poorer, and weakened our midfield defensively.

Great strike by Sheehan though, and big Vic was a real handful after his goal.

Shame he got hurt.

Although he had nothing to go at in an attacking sense, Charles was excellent in being the first line of defence.

Far from a great performance but a very valuable three points nonetheless.

Sign of a good team when you play shit and gain 3 points.

This. Grinding out a win when you're really on the ropes is what the best sides do. Port Vale will feel hard done by, but simply, we took our chances and they were wasteful.

Far from a classic. Don't care 🙂🍺

If we beat Pompey and Morecambe this week we will go 2nd (for about 40 minutes)

Good observation!

Regardless of the games in hand, going 2nd next Saturday would be a real statement and would make the clubs around us take notice

I like that!! 👍
