Think Wembley brings out a different audience. Mates of mates, family members etc.ย

I have my mum and sister coming. Iโ€™ve known my sister 37 years and only just found out sheโ€™s a Bolton fan whoโ€™s never been and my mum last went 25 years ago to a match.ย

Its things like that where you realise this is a big game.ย  I'd take winning this match and failing to get to the play offs.ย  Not saying I'd take this cup over promotion obviously, but given the play-offs still means no promotion for 3 of the teams (and a crushing defeat at Wembley for one), I'd take the cup win and the positive memories that would go with it for 32k fans.

Deffo means more than it should in reality but we are building something. My only concern is bigger picture stuff ย is promotion brings more than this. That saying everyone still remembers 89 who went and itโ€™s time for another generation to make some memories.

Exactly.ย  Nobody thinks about what position we finished in the league in 89.

Ive got a whole new buzz for this and bwfc in general after last night

Think id fell out with em a bit over ticketing at a couple of games plus it felt like we had hit a wall.ย  Injuries to GJ and JDB have been a massive hit

Weird what a draw can do

Cant wait now

Same here, I do wish the final was before the weekend off rather than after it so we could break then put full focus onto the league, but really looking forward to the build up now.

Alternative view is that a Wembley win provides an immediate boost/platform for the run-in. Going to Exeter with a renewed (both in numbers and confidence) squad would be great.

Over the last few years good runs have included Tue/Sat back to back games, taking the confidence of wins quickly into the next game.

Could work in our favour

I think we can sometimes overthink things. Regardless of what happens, we've got a cup final at Wembley, in front of what looks like the biggest crowd of Wanderers fans since the 1970s.ย

Buzzing for it !ย

Cup final against boro would be biggest following since the 70s would of thoughtย

I think we sold out that game with around 33k? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

We're around that figure now with 2 weeks to go!ย

Think it was something around that . And the Liverpool Wembley was also a sold out allocation .
Those would be biggest away following from Bolton for away game .ย

70s Did we take take similar numbers to ย elland Road Newcastle game ? And Blackburn ?ย

Probably about 15000 to Leeds and 20000 to Blackburnย

Bolton were only given 30,000 tickets against Middlesbrough. The Yorkshiremen were given a few thousand more as the allocation was based on league attendances at the time. After the 30,000 sold out without going on open sale the club managed to secure a few hundred more but i don't think it was as many as 31,000

Bolton were given and sold 33,000 tickets v Liverpool in 1995.

There's no way of proving this but I'd bet my house on quite a few of those tickets were bought by folk that had more interest in watching Liverpool than Bolton.ย  Their allocation would have been snapped up in no time, ours went on open sale, far easier to buy than now for none Bolton fans.ย  If we take 33k+ v Plymouth, that will be the biggest gathering of BW fans in modern times.

Interesting comments about our following but what about the number of Bolton fans in any one match in living memory. For me, the 1977 League Cup semi final at Burnden. Difficult to be precise but Im guessing it was the largest number of Bolton fans Iโ€™ve witnessed. A Google search came up with this.ย

Probably have to go back to 58 semi final at main road crowd of 75k on against Blackburn. No way of knowing how many Bolton were there but Blackburn were a 2nd division team back then and a few thousand neutrals but would of thought half the crowd probably from Bolton at leastย
