Wednesday W Barnsley L Derby L Plymouth D Ipswich Points wise, and with one game to go, our away record against the top 5 is better than our home record. But yes, the home record isn't good reading. But does this mean our record against the "shit" teams in the league is better than the other 5? Edited March 12, 2023 by Underpants

I suppose it does mean we've a better record against the dross, but it's the top six we'll have to play if we make the play-offs.

Its everyone below the top 6. We might be talking at crossed purposes here. I'm saying we have a poor home record against the teams we will have to play in the play-offs if we get there. Site Supporter MickyD Posted March 12, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted March 12, 2023 Shrewsbury is the worry. Beat us at their place (deserved? I don’t think it was) and very much an improving team. Yet to play them at home.

We’ve improved slightly overall 6-0 v Sunderland wasn't bad though! And 3-3 v MK Dons who finished 3rd. 9 goals last season, none this. although to be fair we've conceded less this season and got 3 draws. BeeversLeftPeg
Previously when in promotion/playoff contention, this is how we fared against the top 6: 2016/17 - finished 2nd L1 v Sheff Utd H 1-0 W A 0-2 L v Fleetwood H 2-1 W A 4-2 W v Bradford H 0-0 D A 2-2 D v Scunthorpe H 2-1 W A 0-1 L v Millwall H 2-0 W A 2-0 W P 10 W6 D2 L2 F15 A9 Pts 20 PPG 2.0 2012/13 - finished 7th Championship v Cardiff H 2-1 W A 1-1 D v Hull H 4-1 W A 1-3 L v Watford H 2-1 W A 1-2 L v Brighton H 1-0 W A 1-1 D v Crystal Palace H 0-1 L A 0-0 D v Leicester H 0-0 D A 2-3 L P12 W4 D4 L4 F15 A14 Pts 16 PPG 1.33 2000/01 - Finished 3rd (Promoted via playoffs) v Fulham H 0-2 L A 1-1 D v Blackburn H 1-4 L A 1-1 D v Preston H 2-0 W A 2-0 W v Birmingham H 2-2 D A 1-1 D v West Brom H 0-1 L A 2-0 W P10 W3 D4 L3 F 12 A12 Pts 13 PPG 1.30 1999/00 - Finished 6th (Lost playoff semi) v Charlton H 0-2 L A 1-2 L v Man City H 0-1 L A 0-2 L v Ipswich H 1-1 D A 0-1 L v Barnsley H 2-2 D A 1-1 D v Birmingham H 3-3 D A 1-2 L P10 W0 D4 L6 F9 A17 Pts 4 PPG 0.40 1998/99 -Finished 6th (Lost playoff final) v Sunderland H 0-3 L A 1-3 L v Bradford H 0-0 D A 2-2 D v Ipswich H 2-0 W A 1-0 W v Birmingham H 3-1 W A 0-0 D v Watford H 1-2 L A 0-2 L P10 W3 D3 L4 F10 A13 Pts 12 PPG 1.20 Interesting that the only season we had a our PPG was 2 we gained automatic promotion. Also worth pointing out that in our last 2 playoff campaigns, the team that knocked us out beat us twice in the league in the regular season (Ipswich 99/00 & Watford 98/99). That won't happen this season if we get into the playoffs as we've picked up at least a point against all of the current top 7. If we lose on Friday our PPG against the other 6 sides in the top 7 will be 0.75, whilst failing to score will mean we've scored 8 goals in 12 matches, our lowest total than the 5 season listed above, with only 3 of those coming at home against Wycombe. Let's keep those fingers crossed, it's going to be a long 7 weeks or so.
Wanderlust
Dropping points against teams like Morecambe is equally worrying - same points on offer whoever we play. The only thing we can actually control in the equation is our own performance and to get anywhere it has to be a lot better than it has been recently. And that's in every game. If we can do that and it turns out to be good enough, happy days. If it ain't, fair enough. We can't ask for more.

I though the Forest Green game and then Cheltenham after that were a sign of us turning a corner, but we seemed to revert to type against Morecambe.
