Was determined to wear short sleeves in true final day tradition but was dying for some sunshine by half time. Pub crawl down to the city centre is very agreeable though. Great result given the changes. Nlundulu and Jerome were both very lovely when they came on and will definitely have given Evatt something to think about. Thomason impeccable. Back three did well. Chuffed for Shoretire to get a goal. Dixon made a couple of decent saves but ultimately should have been better on both goals. He’ll get a gig next season mid table League Two and he’ll have a good career but not with us. All in all, a textbook final day of the season. Lovely stuff. Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Just landed back. Weird getting home at this time from a long distance away. Enjoyed today, I think everyone who went did, had a good old sing-song anyhow. Quote

Give Small Bar a try if you're around the King Street bit, good booze (didn't try the 8% Planet Pizza Extra Cheese IPA though wtf) That whole King Street area was buzzing last night, few hundred sat out on the picnic tables really good atmosphere so probably even better today with warmer weather. Had enough of boozing so just been for a walk round there funnily enough. Such a chilled vibe, folk just sat around sitting drinking cans and whatnot with not a hint of mither. £60 fine if you do that around our way. Quote

We thought that too, felt like walking around a city abroad at times people just sat about in parks or by the river with food and beers. Seems to have an alternative vibe going on there. And everyone is dressing like the 90s again too 😃 Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 (edited) Those last 2 goals were things of beauty. The pass from MJ, the knock down, the guided finish from Dan; the equally guided finish from Morley, real quality. Got me thinking about long range goals from us this season from open play. 2 in 8 minutes today, 3 in the previous 45 games! None until February, then Dempsey v Cheltenham and 2 from Sheehan, against Port Vale & Shrewsbury. Today our 1st in an away game since Gillingham in March 2022 - Morley again. Including his free kick at Charlton, he's got 3 of the last 4 away. No charge for this useless info, you're welcome. Edited May 7, 2023 by Johnnyrotten Quote

They, very pointedly, mentioned that one hit his head on a post & was concussed. They repeated this, slowly & did little mimes & drawings to illustrate the point. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 To do Morley justice, I'll include the semi at Accrington as that was a proper 1st team/must win game, so of the 5 long range goals scored away from home this season or last, he's got 4 of them. Dan the only other one, so credit to him for that class finish today, no other striker has done that in years. Can anyone recall the last proper long ranger by a striker? Charles at Shrewsbury the best I can think of but inside the area. Quote

I have not and will not research this, but it felt like we went actual years in the Freedman-Lennon-Parky days without someone scoring from outside the area. Or just a good goal in general. Quote
RUREADY2ROLL Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Looking back at the highlights we are still really shit at dealing with balls in the penalty area Quote
