Atmosphere of 100% pure, distilled, hatred - but done in a way that also fired the team up. 2) 1st Ipswich away. Overshadowed by events a year later but astonishing night. 3) Reading. Only 3rd? Well yes, it turned out the be astonishingly great, but in reality we effectively fucked it up. You'd have to re-play it umpteen times - from the instant the penalty was given - before we won again. 4) Preston. Top day out all round. 5) The Knight debacle. We couldn't find a white shirt against Ipswich, irrespective of whether they are a fine team. The rest of your post refers to post cup final injuries and fewer goals, which I certainly don't dispute. Quite simply, performances dropped between the two games. It cost us because we were within striking distance of the top two beforehand. Doesn't matter what the reasons were, but they did. Its those results, in the big games, that have cost us most this season. Unlucky in a couple of them, nowhere near in most of em. Its those games that define your season at the top end.
