Does he still get paid?

Under employment law the employer could argue his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct & dismiss him without notice.

.... and make him available to all other employers for no transfer value. Losing, maybe £50-80m.

That's simply not going to happen. So he will be fined the max (a month I think) & be paid for the rest. Think of it like an injury really, with no physical damage.

I think this is ridiculous. He should have been suspended straight away then have been banned with some time served taken off.

The guardian football podcast made a good point. Maybe we need to look at why he was doing it. Was he affecting games or is he addicted. The lad may need help.

If he was affecting games it should be a life ban; if he has an addiction your right he needs help and is probably getting it via his club.

Obvs.

He'll get to tour hospitals and hospitality lounges as club community ambassador no doubt.

He wont

No, he won't.

Barred from all club/football-related activity, I think.

Yep. Not allowed to train with the club for 4 months, then can train but not play, for the next 4.

Can be little doubt that 362 football related cases, who know his non-football betting levels, means he has 'a problem'.

You have me at a huge advantage, having never bet. Sounds a lot though.

It won’t be 362 individual trips to the bookies. He might have a bet that includes 10 different games, all of which are contributed towards the 362.

I just hope Evatt’s alleged vice is horse racing.

A bit more detail released &, without being privy to it all, it seems he's lucky not to have had a lifetime van.  Bet on Brentford to lise on 13 occasions.

"Ivan Toney is diagnosed as a gambling addict who bet on his own team to lose 13 times, as full reasons for his eight-month ban from football are revealed".

Still not great but he didn't play in any of the 13 matches

Tbf if you are going to mention the 13 games, 11 were whilst he was on loan elsewhere and 2 he was on loan at Wigan and not in the match day squad. He has NOT bet on any game over which he had any direct influence.
