Dr. Feelgood Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I suspect Matheson won't get routine game time in the league but also, as & when he does no-one needs to be worried ... Evatt included. Quote
Johnnyrotten Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 There's some irony that we are winning games with Vic starting, so there's an argument to continue picking him. So when JDB comes on as sub, or even Jerome at Wycombe, if they don't make an impact and we only draw the games v Wycombe, Shrewsbury & Blackpool, we are no longer winning and we're on a poor run of 3 draws. So then there would be an argument to change the starting line up. The better JDB plays as a sub, the more likely Vic is to start the next game 😀 Quote

I'd drop Dan and Jerome down to the B team to really work on Dan's all round game, can always bring him back into the fold if needs be/deserves it DAN's all round game is on Blackpool Beach Quote
jmjhb Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Anyone we bring in permanently needs to be able to play at the next level up. No point bringing in people to replace our 4th best striker or wing-back cover now. Quote

If we're right up there, then we might be able to attract someone in January of that calibre, but if not it would have to be done after the season. If we're within striking distance, but need a boost, then it may have to be horses for courses type signings just to get us over the line. Would imagine a little bit of dish to be available. Quote

I’d be looking to the key areas where we currently don’t have same quality in reserve, lose Santos or Charles we haven’t got adequate replacements and that’s where I’d strengthen. Whitesince63 Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Well I don’t think we’ll bring in a new striker whilst we’ve still got five for two starting places. Cameron may move to a coaching role but for me we’d need to move out one of the other three first, Bod, Victor or Dan. That said I don’t personally think it’s a must do. We’re joint second and I’d already back us to beat anyone in this league so maybe we’re worrying too much as goals are coming from everywhere. Quote
radcliffe white Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Why on earth would we offer CJ a coaching role? Quote

I'd imagine because he's a good professional and seems an intelligent bloke that's had a very long and successful career at the top level of the football league. Just because his legs have finally gone at the age of 37 doesn't suddenly eradicate any of that from his career, I think he'd be an asset in that sort of role. Quote

While I agree on the sentiment to a degree where has it been attained he’s an intelligent bloke? Apologies if I’ve missed something obvious. Also has the coaching role rumour just started on here? Yes he’s been around the block so must have some good knowledge to offer Only thing id say he’s not influencing much on our current strikers Dan would be perfect to take under his wing Quote

Why would we not pick his brains and ask him to develop some of our striking talent? We’re not in some sort of dictatorship here, it is about getting the best results for BoltonWanderers, and if Cameron can help our centre-forwards do that, I am all for it. “He is a senior player, has a lot of experience in all aspects of the game but in particular that centre-forward role. Dan, Victor, Dion, even Jon have used his advice at some stage and that is great to see.” “I do think he would have a lot to offer the game in some way, so I would like to think he would stay in it in some way, shape or form, although I will say he has a lot to offer us right now as a player.“I am pleased with him – he comes on, gives him his absolute all.” Quote

frank_spencer Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Any signings will have to be improvements on the 1st XI. We've got enough cover barring a bad glut of injuries. And currently the only short fall in the side is that 2nd striker. Quote
