I’m not a big reader of The Sun so can’t really say, but would be interesting to know how their coverage of the Phil Schofield story compares to their coverage of this story. Would give a good idea of how fair the suggestion is of them having an anti BCC agenda

I do not disagree that mental Heath issues are often used as an excuse rather then being a genuine reason, Schofield for instance it did seem more like he was fucked off he got caught and ruined his career than genuinely suffering.

Edwards however has a well documented history of depression. No idea how much these issues have affected him but at least it is clear they  did not appear just after he was caught.
