Jeez. He did a great job, they appointed him permanently 7 months ago & has done more than anyone could have asked.

Well, he leaves with his head high & a strengthened reputation.

Current owner didn't appoint him. Yank; whose Vegas ice-hockey team has just won the Stanley Cup.

Jesse Marsch next in?

I thought that but no. Some 41yr old Basque with limited managerial experience. Former Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola

Hey, he may be fantastic, but it's an odd series of actions.

Doubtless some on here will know him & his career intimately. Full back, or wing back ? ... God knows.

i forgot this, but they (afcb) got bought a bit back by the dude that owns the las vegas ice hockey nhl team and iirc they got to the stanley cup in their first season, and they won it last week about 7 years after being formed.

think its one of the quickest new team to champions runs in established sport.

the arizona diamondbacks baseball team did it faster iirc.

dunno what it means for these, but in a way abramovich did it like that too.

i think because its soccer itll be harder to do.

you can see newcastle NOT doing it (winning the league), like how Fulham didnt.

.... & also today Sheff. Wed part company with Darren Moore.

Apparently "both parties believe that it is the right time to go their separate ways". I bet.

I guess the plummet from auto promotion & then the 0-4 v Peterborough was not overlooked

End up at Barnsley

Saw him at the play off at oakwell and he seemed popular from the few interactions I saw.

Wednesday fans livid over here, much speculation that Chansiri wanted a big cull in Moores back room staff and also denied him the money to rebuild in the Championship. No way would Moore have walked so there must be more to it than meets the eye. The poor old tykes fans are terrified Duff will be in there but either way it looks like he’s going somewhere. It’s a funny old game.

Hope they go down next season

Allardyce has talked some shit in his time, but he was 100% right about the snobbery towards English managers.

Exactly Tom and you would have to ask in both Moores and O’Briens cases, what more could the owners have expected? Makes absolutely no sense at all, you used to get fired when you failed!! 🤨

Regarding Moores, the large club with many fans & huge budget got to the top two and were nailed on for promotion until around March when the wheels came off.

They reinvented the meaning of 'scraped through' for the play-offs. It's probable that near failure from such a strong position meant the decision was already made. The eventual 'success' not enough given the opportunity he had.

It's been left late as they have been confirming his replacement. I expect that to be announced today.

Someone leaked texts from a person with Sheff Weds saying Paul Ince got the job and due to be announced today, Sky have suspended betting at 100/1.

If that comes off I imagine they'll be some angry Wednesday fans about.

On at 1/2 right now

Darren Moore is a weird decision. Not least because they left it three weeks.

PS: Should this thread not be "managerial merry-go-round"?

Don't think it's THAT weird tbf, they were in shocking form at the end of the season and it's not like he's got a wonderful record in the Championship.

Looks like Matty Taylor will be new Shrewsbury manager

Strange appointment on the face of it.  Not had a job since Walsall sacked him over a year ago.  Assuming its "our" Matt Taylor and not that other one that's also a manager.
