wanderer1984 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Has freedom of movement across Europe made it easier for those from other continents? I'd guess it's had a big impact on today's immigration throughout Europe. Quote
gonzo Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 We're not in Shengen, We dont have freedom of moment but we currently have thousands of migrants pouring in every day either legally or illegally at record levels. Tony Blairs fault. Quote

Open borders across Europe meant folk were emboldened to chance there arm, how do you think it would if panned out for illegal Immigrants if there was a proper borders in place in every EU Schengen country? As your hard of thinking I’ll answer it for you, they’d never of reached Calais. Edited December 6, 2023 by Mounts Kipper Quote

Discount politics, economics and history and it still makes no sense whatsoever. I'm with Casino, Mounts must be on a wind up. No grown up who professes such a viciforious opinion on this subject can have such alack of basic knowledge and understanding of the subject to actually type the paragraph above. Or else....well, we know the consequences. Quote

I'm not saying it's all down to Schengen but surely it's had quite a bit of impact that allows immigrants across different continents to move through Europe more easily 🤷🏻♂️ Quote

Thus reducing the amount of money available for the care sector. The only way wages in that sector will rise is by removing cheap labour, simultaneously improve its image as a career, and ensuring that all of us save more in pensions etc. There is no one solution to the fact that folk live longer nowadays. Fwiw I don't think we advertise/prioritise nursing/care as a career enough. Needs to be a more respected and held in high esteem. A societal shift, that sees wages rise and consistency improve. Quote

In fact, not only free labour, the student nurse actually pays for the privilege of not earning during training! If this was sorted then maybe more folk would step up to become nurses. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Hadn't heard about this. No doubt another step in hardening of attitudes towards migration, and soft arsed government. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Bit of introspective soul searching in France atm regarding the Gisele Pelicot case, which I imagine may have overshadowed the Moroccan story? Quote
