It's fine to offer up such things, when you know full well you'll be out of power within 18 months :)

I know we weren’t… but the rest of Europe is and that gave illegal immigrants a free pass to move within Schengen and many ultimately rocked up at Calais.

You quoted Gonzos year on year legal migration stats and declare Schengen is the problem.

Me: "We were never in Schengen"

MK: Schengen responsible for illegal migration.

This is your debating style.

We're not in Shengen, We dont have freedom of moment but we currently have thousands of migrants pouring in every day either legally or illegally at record levels.

Tony Blairs fault.

Forgive me but as you seem to be a bit hard of thinking. Open borders across Europe meant folk were emboldened to chance there arm, how do you think it would if panned out for illegal Immigrants if there was a proper borders in place in every EU Schengen country?  As your hard of thinking I’ll answer it for you, they’d never of reached Calais.

Do some people actually believe this utter drivel? Discount politics, economics and history and it still makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm with Casino, Mounts must be on a wind up. No grown up who professes such a viciforious opinion on this subject can have such alack of basic knowledge and understanding of the subject to actually type the paragraph above.

Or else....well, we know the consequences.

You are welcome to give your alternative opinion..I’m all ears.

It's not difficult to understand is it.

Fingers in ears, seems some folk just can’t accept what’s blatantly obvious. I’m waiting patiently for NIC reply to my invitation.

I'm not saying it's all down to Schengen but surely it's had quite a bit of impact that allows immigrants across different continents to move through Europe more easily 🤷🏻‍♂️

Me neither but it’s played a big part.

You can't even read mate. Gonzos stats were for legal migration.

Or, pay them low wages, bring in as many kiddies as they have, and pile more pressure on over stretched resources. Thus reducing the amount of money available for the care sector.

The only way wages in that sector will rise is by removing cheap labour, simultaneously improve its image as a career, and ensuring that all of us save more in pensions etc.

There is no one solution to the fact that folk live longer nowadays.

Fwiw I don't think we advertise/prioritise  nursing/care as a career enough. Needs to be a more respected and held in high esteem.

A societal shift, that sees wages rise and consistency improve.

note - im not saying i have the solution, but im sure as fuck its not lets increase the crisis in care sector staffing

Don’t you think some level of healthcare which doesn’t require the potential nurse to spend a number of years becoming cheap (free) labour in a learn-whilst-you-work system? In fact, not only free labour, the student nurse actually pays for the privilege of not earning during training!

If this was sorted then maybe more folk would step up to become nurses.

The post didn’t say that  (mentioned nett migration) you reading stuff that’s not there. Then coming to the wrong conclusion. Even the EU themselves admit Schengen is part of the problem.

Hadn't heard about this.

No doubt another step in hardening of attitudes towards migration, and soft arsed government.

Used to be headline news
