kent_white
Wanderersways brethren - can you help? I've just put a crack in the front driver side panel of my car. Basically misjudged the entrance to my garage and scraped a two inch hole in it. On reversing back out to resolve it the wing mirror drivers side has clipped the other side of the garage. Basically a massive fuck up on my part. Car is an i30n performance so parts aren't cheap. Don't think I've any choice but to go through insurance? But would this class as one claim or two? And if I've got 15 years no claims and protected no claims discount - has anybody got any idea how much I'm likely to lose of that discount? PS - I've tried rubbing it with a balloon etc........ Thanks in advance! 👍

Traf
Getting it fixed wil surely be cheaper than the insurance sting in the long run.

My garage is on a weird angle anyway and the neighbours park right next to it as well so it's a pain in the arse to park at the best of times. I'd be better leaving it on the street! Couple of grand for some cosmetics and a wing mirror? Fuck me. Shop around man. If that's a genuine quote, it's probably worth driving up Norf to get it done. Not in Crawley
Don't know about price parts but when I parked on the street there was a spate of pissed folk kicking off wing mirrors when I lived in crawley. Anyway, got a stupid quote but then bought one on ebay and it was a piece of piss to fix - even electric - they are basically a plug. As for the otherside. Newpaper and paint? Bad day or are your driving/parking skills akin to Mr Bean? 😁 Anyway, I assume your front panel is plastic rather than metal hence the cracks rather than dent? It's on PCP so it needs to be pristine when it goes back. Otherwise I'd have gone for your option! 🤣

Site Supporter Winchester White Posted June 8 Site Supporter Share Posted June 8 You've fucked it if on pcp, needs to be fixed properly. Insurance isn't always great either if they use a crap workshop but they will likely have to use genuine parts so should be fine.
Zulu
I’ve just studied the photo and, frankly, I’m surprised that rubbing it with a balloon didn’t sort it. 🥴

Site Supporter Spider Posted June 8 Site Supporter Share Posted June 8 (edited) If it’s PCP you’ll need a proper repair doing, and keep the paperwork. Missus gave a lease car back recently and they tried to charge £300 for a stone dent on the bonnet. I’m not exaggerating when I say the guy had to show it to us using a magnifying glass. I told him to take it off his report unless he wanted to report a bigger dent that was the exact same shape as his face. They’re cunts. You are allowed a small dent per side or even panel, anyone telling you otherwise is trying their luck.

Did you also enter details of your claim ? As well as losing NCD you are now classed as a shit driver so price will go up for that as well.
