I had  the  misfortune to scrape one side of ours from front door to back panel. I got a door from the scrapyard, put it on, and AFM in Farnworth made it like new cost £100 a panel.

Mind you ours is an 08 Corsa.

Yours looks like a transformer. Can it not  turn itself into something  not so fucked ?

I have an insurance claim hanging atm (non fault)..... My insurance company have given it to a van rental company, who would be providing a courtesy van, to handle..... Is that even legal?.... I've been pissed around for over 3 months.

Are you saying the van rental

company are handling your claim ?

Or that they have asked them to provide you a van ?

The first is weird, the second is standard.

Just renewing wife’s car insurance. I started off with £250 voluntary excess (plus the £100 compulsory) and premium was £157 for the year.

Knocked all of the voluntary excess off so sticking with just the £100 compulsory and it’s gone down to £153.

What’s the point?

That's bizarre.

Doesn't tin foil hat man work in such a field?

Aye.

Pricing and actuaries are just numbers men. If it stacks up financially from the claims data they have they'll do it even if it makes no sense.

Big one a while back is it's cheaper to put your car on the road than it is in a garage because they knew some people lied saying it was in a garage so priced it accordingly.

Anyway... I think MickyD is just showing off that he's got insurance for under £160 😉

£105 last year by some place I’ve never heard of.

Extra year without a claim puts it up 50%

Do I need to change my car insurance? I pay 50 quid a month, it's on a drive, 2018 Ford G Max, no claims...

If you want cheap insurance it perhaps isn’t your insurance you need to change it’s your car. Wife drives a 62 plate Fiat Punto worth about £3k.

Fair enough, but with 2 teenagers and a roof top box for holidays I need at least the engine and the space for now.

That there London mate, theft is rife so premiums are high even for shitskips.

Yes, I was just being flippant but thought it important to point out her car isn’t much more than a little runaround which takes her to work and back and her dad’s house and back a few times every week.

You drive a BMW and live in Toxteth. I'm surprised you actually managed to get a quote! 🤣

Different under writers giving different quotes, they will just send you a renewal with your current scheme, if you ring they'll shop around.

It also pisses me off that they do that.

I ring them up and cancel on principle even when they offer a much lower quote, and don’t get me started on auto renewal.

They do it as loads of folk just accept it. My dad was old school and spent his life working for Natwest. When he died I sorted the insurance etc. they had been charging him £700 ish and it turned out it should have been £160/£200. So many folk must just renew. Cunts the lot of them
