Says the match attendances and lifestyle is taking it's toll. Surprised he took the risk to be honest, especially with the Euros this year. With a contract to 2026, they won't sell him on the cheap. Who’d of thought. Like he went for the money😂 Quote
auckland_bwfc Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Too much money to know what to do with it becomes irrelevant. Next on the list is having their ego groomed by 100s of thousands of fans and relentless sky sports news articles about what their longest tee shot was...... Take that away and replace it with 250 fans and a fawaffle burger stand and the guys gonna feel lonely. Oh well.....cya! Quote
London Wanderer Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 Aye I’ve got no sympathy for the lad. Sadly I’d not be surprised if Southgate still picked him. A bonkers decision at 33 when you’re still a top class midfielder. Quote

I think he’s done a job but he’s not top class and he signed his own suicide note when agreeing a deal that would sort his family for generations. Hopefully him and Gareth let him go gracefully Quote

Firminho also looking at getting out to Saw this Tough shit really for him and Henderson, they know what they were signing up for and if they didn't they at least knew how much they were getting paid Meanwhile Ronaldo is loving it and was the top scorer in 2023 with 54 goals Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 There was some doom and gloom around the effect of Saudi investment in the sport previously. Think we can see not all is rosy. Quote

I understood that he got £700k pw (!!) tax free so long as he saw out his 3 year contract. There were tax-free bonus payments for signing & performance which he may find are now immediately due tax. Not fulfilling it means he owes 'normal' tax rates for that money*. Of course tax rates in Holland may be higher or lower than UK ones but certainly not Saudi type rates. *it's 49.5% for income over €75k pa. Unless he has complicated non-dom plans which wouldn't fit his self-styled holier-than-though image. £700k pw for 3 years. Jeez. You'd find a way wouldn't you ! £36.5m pa. Over £100m in 3 years. DazBob Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 He's probably already got more money than he or his kids can ever spend. Why be unhappy for 2 and a half more years for extra money? No doubt he had a palatial home, but his missus, for example, wouldn't be able to live a life anything like she can do in Europe. Living out in the desert for 3 years sounds thoroughly miserable to me. Quote
