Whitestar Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I'm with ya now. Was over thinking it like, is it rhyming slang? "Tractor & trailer" = supa Bob Taylor. Quote

Read the article I linked to; we smoothed the deal to buy him by facilitating the export of some tractors thanks to Ian Greaves' "connections". It's obvious when you think about it, especially as I went to all the trouble of finding the right brand of tractor from the right time period. I mean if it was a Massey-Ferguson, then I could see how people would have got confused. 😀 Quote

Whitestar Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I'm not an expert on tractors but if i was a farmer or an agricultural worker i think I'd choose a big blue New Holland. Quote

I found out years later he lived in Tottington while he played for us. His wife upset the locals by squeezing all the bread before making her choice. #bwfctrivia That goal against Cardiff is my only full memory of Nikolic in a Bolton shirt. The phrase "he nearly broke the net" is often used but in this case it really was true. We won the game 4-2. We always seemed to wallop Cardiff at home in the later 70s and the 80s. Quote
Whitestar Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I'm sure he scored in the 6-1 home drubbing of Cambridge utd circa 1980. A generally shite season but we dicked a couple of teams, Newcastle included. BTW, the Chelsea game that season was tasty as F***. Quote

You're joking! Mate of mine had one and the front loader fell off and killed his sheepdog. Farm went downhill from then on (well, it always did as it was a hill farm, but you know what I mean) after he hit bottle in remorse for Old Shep. Last seen drinking turps through a tramp's sock in the graveyard of St.James Anglican Church in Burton-in Kendal. Unfortunately the vicar was old skool Church Violence (saved Bishop Sentamu from a kicking at last year's Ecumenical Church Council after he got jumped by some Calvinist Presbyterians from Arbroath). Leathered the fuck out of him. Here endeth the lesson - don't buy New Holland. Mind you, there's a happy ending. During his stint in hospital he underwent gender reassignment and has now got the gig at Forest Green. The Lord does indeed move in mysterious ways (as does as a New Holland when you engage their Electro Command™ 4 step semi-powershift transmission - work of the Devil and all his imps). Quote

He scored in the 3-2 away win that season at Cambridge, which incidentally was his only other goal for us. That 6-1 win at home was sealed by possibly the greatest goal I ever saw by a Bolton player. Len Cantello's pile driver. Did he do much else for us? Quote
