I think we will play well but not score enough leaving us mid table. Everyone will say they trust evatt and markham to get it right in January.

If we only score one goal every game it’s fine providing we don’t allow our opponents to score any at all. That way even if 100 goals isn’t going to happen 100+ points would.

See, I don't think that would be the case.

After 10 games, we'd be out of the window, by which time I'd expect new signings to be in.

If that hasn't happened, and we've not shown any improvement, then there may be some legitimate questions.

Before then, not so.

But even if the questions are being asked, so what?

No one is going anywhere in terms of board or management

This is it for the foreseeable

If you don't like it, whinge away

That's what this forum is for

Indeed.

As I said previously though, I don't think FV would rest on their laurels, and sooner or later, if improvements did stop or reverse then they may get twitchy!

But, as you say, that's way down the line.

With the business we have done so far, I can’t see us improving on last season.

Can’t see us scoring many more

Can see us conceding more.

IE track record of loan signings isn’t amazing. For every Trafford, there is a Mbete.

Lots of infighting ahead.

Boooo

Evatt out

One thing seems for sure is that we won't be building a championship ready squad whilst in league one

We just have to get out this league sharpish

In terms of progression, ambition and competition it should be this coming season

I think you're right. We can't afford to buy a team too good for this league which gets us up relatively easily.

Need to utilise young promising players, loans as well as ambitious signings and just get up as best we can.

Go again once there.

We’ve lost Bradley who we can’t replace and Trafford who it looks like we have replaced with similar, from the team that destroyed Plymouth we’ve also got Iredale and Bod back, even without the proposed 4/5 new higher calibre signings we have a strong core of players who know each other are comfortable with the style of play and finished comfortably in 5th last season, that group alone is good enough to still be top 6, just hope the proposed 4/5 can push us on that little bit more to make top 2.

Totally agree MK, we already have a squad capable of top six so even if IE can’t get all his targets now I still expect us to be there or thereabouts come January. It’s important that Ian gets in the right players not just numbers and if that means waiting then so be it. I’m a lot more positive on our squad than many seem to be and feel there is much more to come from some of them this year than we’ve seen previously.

He had a good afternoon, but could have scored three in the second half with more awareness.

Otherwise you're spot on 😉

Not quite worked this new way of embedding, sorry @Zico

Anyway, thought it was worth pointing out that two 3-0 wins is as good as it gets/and has been.

Still think 10 games will be a good bench mark and hopefully at that point we can give the doubters some proper evidence that Evatt/Markham/FV know what they are doing and the squad is better equipped than it was last season for promotion.

Just for you @Johnnyrotten 😊

Bit of help from Twitter with a cut and paste job below.

Ploughing through the complexities of this not being an accurate day of judgement, it’s still fair to take a benchmark of our progress 10 games in.

3-0 V Lincoln City 🏠
0-3 V Cheltenham Town ✈️
3-1 V Fleetwood Town 🏠
0-4 V Wigan Athletic 🏠
1-1 V Burton Albion ✈️
2-1 V Derby County 🏠
2-1 V Reading ✈️
1-1 V Peterborough United 🏠
0-1 V Port Vale ✈️
3-2 V Stevenage Town 🏠

With our ambitions being automatic promotion, it’s been an ok start without being spectacular.

1 awful game/performance against Wigan and a massively frustrating one against Reading are the anomalies.

We dismissed a couple of poor sides early on and we’ve been able to beat a few sides around us which is a positive.

Our squad depth has been tested recently and so far has come through commendably.

Finding a consistent and quality strike partner for Dion has been a struggle.

Importantly, despite some questionable behaviour from the manager and minority of fans, the squad has shown that they are very much together, it has character in spades (since Wigan!) and has shown glimpses of the quality needed to get us promoted.

If we continue our 2 points per game that will have us there or thereabouts.

It won’t be plain-sailing and no doubts sterner tests to come, but a moderately pleasing start to the season.
