batton carrier
Wigan fans will say to this is proof that the EFL have it in for them. Had we been playing anyone else on Saturday Evatts ban would have stood. #believe #prayforthetics #fuckwigan #maloneyisascrote

I'm not sure if they EVER were. Gates at Grundy Hill were typically 600 or thereabouts. The move to Leigh was supposed to change that, but really didn’t on any sustained level. Leyther_Matt
We really do owe them for 2 years ago. I’d like to think that the progression shown since then means we’ll be much better prepared this time around. In a league of precious few ‘big’ games, it would be weird to ignore how big a game it is when they’re bringing half of their entire home support and it would effectively have been a lockout at Burnden. I can't work out why Evatt has been fined- either the card was rescinded, and therefore no action (surely?) or it wasn't. He didn't get a yellow, and now no red, so what is the fine for? Clear as mud, but he seems happy enough to let it go. In fairness, it's also good that the officials and managers can talk and iron things out. I've seen elsewhere that our team that day was.... Dixon Brockbank Santos Johnson Gordon MJ Sheehan Sarcevic" boooooo" Bakayoko Doyle Dapo so no wonder we got gubbed really, but also shows how far we've progressed in less than 2 years. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted August 17 Site Supporter Share Posted August 17 I was looking at that team earlier. Clearly plenty of changes since, but Jones wasn't a starter that day, and now is almost a shoe in. Santos and Sheehan still there, and probably improved since. Look at the stats though, loads more possession, better passing accuracy, but thrashed!

It seems that there is an element of discretion in the punishment handed out to managers who have received a red card.......but I can't find anything in black & white stating this, but i did find that Klopp escaped with just a fine after getting a red card, deservedly by his own admission , v Man City last season. Ah, that would make sense. Though not sure why that means the ref had made a mistake initially, he's just chosen to lessen the punishment. Could benefit us in a hidden way too- possible that the Wigan fans target Evatt even more, and less abuse of the players. Something that I'm convinced Ferguson used to do deliberately. Got a lot of 10k plus gates in cup in that era against Bury, Northwich, Chelsea, Villa etc, I went to a few midweek games with mates who supported them. Yes out team was very weak that day with Brocky, Dixon, Gordon. But I’d still have Baka over Dan. I think some have forgotten he scored some decent goals for us, late winners away from home etc. Puzzles me how we let him go for nothing then paid money for Dan to replace him. Site Supporter Spider Posted August 17 Site Supporter Share Posted August 17 I spoke to a Wigan fan yesterday in a plumbers merchants in , well, Wigan. He honestly reckons Wigan is a bigger club and a better town than Bolton and his reasoning is that it’s cos you can get a train direct to london from there. Thats what we’re dealing with. Have to say I disagree with this. Jury still out on Dan, but I remember when he came straight in after Baka left. Within ten minutes I noticed the ball sticks to him so much better. He’s younger and has much more potential. Love Baka (mainly for Oxford & Crewe away), but that double figure season for us was a one-off. His first touch was shocking. He couldn’t hold it up whatsoever and hasn’t scored in the league since the end of 21/22. He also played as a wide forward on the right that day. Writing was truly on the wall. 2 hours ago, Tonge moor green jacket said: Clearly plenty of changes since, but Jones wasn't a starter that day, and now is almost a shoe in. He was injured wasn’t he?
