The current set up (FV + Evatt) have not really experienced that because the circumstances meant a lot of latitude. It's not going to last forever. They've been brilliant for us but the bottom line is that as a football club and town we need to be in the Championship. We need to be getting a lot meaner and more resilient about achieving that objective. We’re still in a good position but performances need to improve now. A serious tilt at promotion demands consistency and a squad that has genuine depth. Currently we have neither but there’s still time to steady the ship. Fortunately we have points on the board and plenty of games to sort it. we need to be top 6 by end of October or Evatt will be under real pressure. Its imperative that we get out of this fucking division and away from these dogshit referees Quote
gonzo Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Trying my best for positives in that lets not forget they were a championship team last season. We were pretty light on the bench with Mendez and Magoo missing. We should have been 4-0 at half time. Charles doesnt get injured he doesnt come off. In the grand scheme of things a 2-1 defeat away at Reading isnt a result to be digging out the tennis balls and looking for that dusty ACV certificate. 2nd half was shit, they scored their chances. First half we missed ours. Shit happens. Quote
jmjhb Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Probably need to be delving into the free transfer market but unlikely given IE was happy with deadline day. No point in sacking him, I doubt a magician could do anything with Dan. He just isn't a footballer. Quote
Site Supporter Biggish Dave Posted September 16, 2023 Site Supporter Posted September 16, 2023 Our defence needs to improve alot. If we aren't taking many chances then by christ we need to stop shipping easily preventable goals. Should've won the game by half time. No idea how the ref doesn't give that free kick for a trip on Dion. Possibly bottled having to send him off. Shit happens. We'll be reet Quote
Lostock Whites Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 I'm scared how much we rely on Charles. Even the Wigan 4-0 he didn't feature. I trust that Evatt and Markham are professionals in their field, but what the fuck did they say in Jerome and Dan to think that they would come in and suit our style. Last season our attack was our downfall and this season it appears the same. We are just so kind to the opposition, even gave Reading 3 points back that they lost. When we start to be more ruthless and punishing, that's when we will go up. Reading and Wigan, are 2 defeats so far did that to us, and they both were in the Championship last season. That's the difference between League 1 and Championship teams. Quote
Farrelli Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Disappointing to lose that game from the position we were in. We are making it hard for ourselves by spurning chances when we are on top. Quote
tomski Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Calling Evatt, Phil Neal seems harsh on Neal now. Only a shit manager loses that game. The set up and those subs on the second half have sealed him off as a moron. Quote

Can't disagree with regards to the subs and tactics, but the manager didn't miss the chances we did in the first half when on top. Collective responsibility today. Is there a vein of conceit running through the set up? Quote

But they are mentally weak as fuck & Evatt seems to have fallen into the trap of thinking we are better than we are again. Bang average & poor teams over running us just by pure effort. Wigan, Burton and Reading taken 7 points off us this season,Piss piss poor. Back to today, i get it that Dion was knackered but my heart sinks every time i see Jerome & Nlundulu coming off the bench, i just think “end of goal threat” it’s fucking depressing. Not too long ago we were bringing on Bakayoko & Dapo off the bench, but at the moment our back up strikers are just shit & our squad strength isn’t as good as IE seems to think it is. Quote

His attacking signings are dreadful how they can be defended is beyond me go back a season and you have kachunga it’s been a real problem area for IE now we have to get through to January but then non of the current ones will be going anywhere Quote

I would say so looking at the transfers when you take into account we were told we were having prem clubs throwing young players at us not long ago then we don’t sign any obviously they thought they didn’t need them and we have better Quote

There is literally no threat or menace to cause a threat. Remember all those late goals? Yep, thing of the past. Quote

He’s a really great talker and we’ve all quite rightly bought into it after years of torture. Is there any real ability and substance behind the words though that make him a competent Manager at this level? These are his players with his identity. Fail to make the play-offs and he goes. Its that simple for me. Quote
