What bigger picture? Enlighten us

That losing a football match isn't the end of the world, or the end of the season, 7 games in.

So no bigger picture then. How we lost today deserves calling out. No issue with losing a match in isolation but today was a shocker. Rightly called up and I’m convinced we don’t go up with IE.

If we get promoted in April, will you still be fuming that we lost to Reading in September? That's the 'bigger picture' I'm talking about.

Go up by April. Arse out in town hall steps tackle if we do. Not gonna happen

The problem with Cheese is he doesn’t do away games and therefore didn’t witness that game which we gifted the points. Like I said the officials were awful but it was shit players we have brought in that can’t finish and idiotic substitutions that put them on top. We might recover but on that performance I don’t fancy our chances for automatic or even playoff positions.

We need new scouts for the January transfer window because it’s been poor recently

So utterly pessimistic after 7 games of a 46 game season. I just find it mind boggling. I can only assume you expect us to win EVERY game, which is absolutely bonkers. If losing now and then makes someone "lose their head" and do/say things they regret, it's probably not healthy for them to follow any sport.

Having said that, our results do affect my mindset. Just not to the extreme extent that I'll say or do stupid things when we lose a football match.

Done plenty in my time, and will do again when my lad is a bit older. Do you go Away expecting us to win every time, and if we don't, you'll lose the plot?

I'm convinced Evatt signed Dan because he wanted a project to work with and say haven't I done well if he succeeds with it.

I'd rather have a striker for now - even a 1 season striker. If we had Billy Sharp, he scores 3

His attacking recruitment has been woeful and I can’t see how it can be defended imo but this was the problem last season too

the club need to cut any losses on dan, Jerome & victor in January and start again (I know realistically that won’t happen)

I said at the beginning of the season we are too reliant on Charles and now he could be out

We started badly and never took control of the game/dominated the ball because we gave it away cheaply far too often.

So instead of playing our usual game which makes the opposition do all the running, it turned into an end to end free for all that suited them more than us.

Because we gave possession away so cheaply we had to run around much more than usual which is why we tired - our players are just not used to it.

Throw missed chances and punitive refereeing into the mix and there's the recipe for disaster.

Taking the chances we had would have rescued the situation, but without the legs of Maghoma and CMD to come on they were always likely to run us into the ground sooner or later.

The full squad when fit has the capacity to handle challenges like this but we simply don't have enough players to take the strain when we get a couple of injuries - only 18 registered.

Of the strikers, Jerome and JDB don't have the legs to compete any more and Dan and Vic don't have the composure

Ok it’s only 7 games in but it is important we’re 2 defeats in Ipswich only lost 4 Plymouth 7 for automatic but last season was high bar  if it’s a low points tally this season still can’t afford to loose more than another 7 going of previous seasons

I think people's pessimism is due to it seeming the problems that have costs us over the past two seasons under Evatt are still present

And the realisation that our squad as it is now is weaker than the squad we had last season

It's not simply a matter of it being one result, an expectation we win every match, or where we are in the legue table at this stage

Ah sorry, forgot those who didnt attend and are tanked up on ale full of emotion aren't allowed to comment.

I wonder if you or the current super fan had times in your life where you couldnt travel to every single away game?

Life comes before football sometimes.

Doesnt stop you being fully invested old bean.

Shut the fuck up for crying out loud.

Is there a media blackout when Bolton play away ffs?

Do we all sit in a darkened room and wait till 90 minutes and wait for the buff to come out to check the scores?

How many home games do you do btw?

If only every single game was available on a fire stick, on your phone or we had some form radio signal that transmits commentary from the ground.

Sound like Vietnam Veterens. You weren't there man! 🤣🤣

We're all looking at the start of a new season for signs of evolution, where shortfalls are acknowledged and look like they've been addressed.

It's early days but I'm not seeing much evidence. We still look flaky mentally, still lack physicality, still only have one way of playing that is easily disrupted and still have too few scoring options (bad luck with CMG noted, might have become one).

The comments about fatigue and tiredness are concerning. We faded well before the end of the last regular season and were as flat as a pancake in the play off. If Evatt is huffing and puffing about it already there is a real issue either with the robustness of players he's recruiting or the intensity of the physical work in training

Nothing to do with subs. The team is weak as piss. That's the problem. As soon as they come under any sort of pressure they wilt. When reading scored the first , they just accepted it, no one got angry or pissed off. Just withered away. The away form isn't good enough for a team to get automatic promotion. Look at the teams near the top of the league. It's right there for us. It's no good being all nice and tidy if you can't grind it out when it's needed.

Surely JDB is worth a shot now?

Im a self confessed happy clapper soft furnishings shopper but this Dan thing baffling me.

If Charles is out next Saturday I can’t see him playing Vic & JDB together be very limited and not much pace/chasing

There's too many problems that makes it difficult for me to just treat this game in isolation and just move on as it's only '1 game'.

Both our losses have come against 2 young teams suffering from external problems and yet have beaten us by wanting it more. We are in Evatts 4th season with us now and yet we still look so far off the pace. We look like a team that wants to play nice football, but falls to the ground with ease when the opponent asks us questions.

Jerome and Nlundulu, I've already said my piece on them, they're abysmal. How 37 year old Jerome can be more beneficial than a young home grown hungry Conor Carty I have no idea.

Injuries/Fitness is becoming a massive concern. Evatt mentioned that some of the players were tired, I cannot get over this. They're professionals and just had a 2 week break? Lots of them I have seen on social media went on mini holidays to come back and play like that.

Additionally, so many of the new players that have come in have picked up injuries. Evatt has said instead of bringing in more players, we've got instead players that can cover many positions. Now that they're injured what is your plan then? Incredibly risky strategy.

I love our board, but I can get the  frustrations of the fans considering that we have probably put more money into the team than our own board this summer. Over 3.5m of our own pockets into the Wanderers Bond scheme, 16,000 season ticket holders sold, currently averaging over 21,000 crowds, yet we've barely improved the squad. Where's the fucking ambition?

Its a long old season, but already there are a lot of question marks. It's our 3rd season in League One and we're Bolton Wanderers, I know there's also been some big names that have lasted a similar time. But what I am saying is that patience is running thin now. And for the first time in FV's tenure, they could feel some real impatience from the supporters and rightly so.

In fairness I’ve felt it since last season where I believed we under achieved despite on paper a 5th place finish looking good, so the 7 game thing isn’t quite right.

I don’t expect us to win every game. Wasn’t that arsed about losing against Wigan etc as these games will come.

The manner of yesterdays defeat deserves a shoeing as the subs and tactics from 30 mins on were piss poor.

Not sure I’ve lost my head either or done/said anything I regret.

To be fair it’s irrelevant if he or anyone went to this particular match or not. On the whole I wish was in his camp on how he felt about it being early days etc.

As stated before though I just don’t think the bloke is up to it and another season will be wrote off as he isn’t going anywhere.

Can only assume he’s not fit in the slightest. If so doesn’t explain the late cameo though.
