Anyone taken the plunge?

Theyve been onto me with an offer that seems to good to refuse. New tellybox, £50 off monthly fees, improved broadband speeds.

Assume they’re struggling to shift the stock?

Is it worth it?

I’m yet to be convinced of the benefits of moving from a digital signal to a stream tbh, especially for sports.

Must admit that relying entirely on broadband for all TV is a bit nervy. The dish only ever fails when there's a massive storm, but that's maye 2-3 times a year for a few minutes tops.

The telly you get doesn't look all that either, 60hz refresh rate is a bit poor.

The advantages are the lack of box/cables/mess and it's cheap.

They give you 30 days to change your mind so I might give it a whirl and see.

Mate had it, sent it back within the 30 days. He's a bit fussy though, as wanted 120Hz, as he fucks around with gaming shit, he also couldn't connect his wireless headset, and there is also no headphone jack if you want to be "wired" in. I didn't see it, as he didn't have it long enough, but he said it is/was a "chunky" bit of kit and didn't look very sleak (I think he said it's over 2 inches thick)

With regards to relying on streaming, I think you can also plug in a normal freeview aerial as back up, if your broadband does go down for some reason.

The sound he said was really good....but then it's a really "thick" unit, so you'd expect it to be I suppose

I hope you’ve distanced yourself from this mate who wears a headset to watch tele and be a gamer. A tidy bird at my work does it and it helps supress  office horn.

He does get the abuse he deserves, on a regular basis

In other news @tomskithe "fingering breakfast pub" is just about to re-open as a Vietnamese Restaurant.not sure if there will be any fingering involved yet though

Surely in the evening it’s fine to discuss. Good news and I look forward to your review.

I fucked  Sky off because technically, they were shit

Sky mini boxes were Wi-Fi only and they were wank. Hardly ever worked.

The Sky Q box couldn’t even remember your wi-fi password.

Got virgin tv now. Night and day.

Mine always works

Wouldnt touch sky/bt for broadband but tv, sky all day

Only issue is the 2 x mini box limit

Pikey as fuck , that

Funnily enough, I'm usally a bit sneery about those who have Sky, tres common, Rodney.

I don't watch football on TV, or any other sport for that matter. I don't tend to watch films at home really. This week due to work and being out for dinner I've watched the Kussenburg doc and question time and that's it. The one night I was in I went to bed at nine and read as was up early.

Don't see the point of paying for anything else - just keep the stuff for the kids. If it wasn't for them, we'd actually be happy to just use the laptop to watch stuff and get rid of the TV altogether.

I’m tempted… like you @Spider it’s seems a very good deal and our TV could do with an upgrade. I’m presuming it has hdmi ports on the TV so you can put your firestick on?

Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't to be a pain in the arse for folk who would watch sky sports streams

Can’t believe folk still pay for sky

If everyone pinched it like common pikey criminals there’d be nothing to watch.

You owe the law abiding citizens a pint.

I’ve tried these dodgy boxes, Firesticks etc..

All tedious as fuck. Picture quality is rotten, constant fucking about and liable to just pack in.

it’s for people who buy casual wear from Sports Direct
