Hs2 re-visited

We had a discussion on here a while back, which suggested quite a substantial opposition to the project.

Now that there are rumours that the Northern section will be scrapped, what are the views now?

I was always an opponent of it, though softened slightly when an expert lady explained in more detail about the capacity issues on the East and West Coast mainlines.

Excellent.

Are we getting an extra metro link line to the airport?

You mean this one, hopefully.

Hang on, the metro already goes right into Manchester airport in the same building the trains and buses terminate.

Why would extending it another 200m to T2 be either necessary or worthwhile?  Unless of course they are building a new transport hub at T2 for when T1 is eventually demolished but that is donkeys years off.

Also, if they meant a 200m extension why not say so?

Not sure who you mean by they. TFGM are the people to ask. Just clarifying some other comments.

Enlighten us on the 20 trains an hour between Leeds and Sheffield. Sure you’ve got an explanation for that too 😃

There have been a few ammendments to the initial publicised plan.

Some desperation to find fault it seems- some justification as it should be right first time. It's as if it wasn't the final version that was put out first. Stupid error as they would have known what would known the consequences.

That said, nothing about the changes are massive, and it's what happens in the coming years that matters.

If the money doesn't materialise, and the work doesn't get done, then I'll join the throng.

This is what happens when you make decisions 20 minutes before announcing them

No idea. Did they say trains or increasing capacity. I’m not affiliated to the Tory Party or government.
Took a train from Farnworth to Stalybridge and back today though. Nice trains, no overcrowding and on time. Don’t listen to the the social media wetwipes.😉

Is there something that happens at a certain age that makes the very small victories of being a dull pedant endlessly exciting? Being a smartarse, only works if you're being a bit, well, smart.

Shadow Secretary of State then BB my little ruddy cheeked fellow.

To be fair TMGJ, if Labour or LibDems were in charge and put this shite out I would also be saying so. It is taking folk for fools and deserves the flack it is getting.

I wasn’t listening to the wet wipes when the last train out of Manchester was cancelled the other night and I had to queue for an hour to get a £40 taxi home.

My £7 train ticket was top value.

Winners and losers though,

Some folk can’t see the shit for the shit.

I'm starting a band called "Social Media Wetwipes". Anyone here who plays drums and has their own kit?

Each man for himself.

winners and losers

And it was an Uber in the end.

You may not end up in Manchester at 11.30pm too often at the weekend, but Uber adjust their prices according to demand.

Trains, in fairness, don’t do that.

But it helps if they turn up 😁

Farnworth, Moses Gate, Salford (2 stations) Manchester Victoria, Ashton U Lyne, Stalybridge. (It started in Southport)
Regular and reliable route that you Labour activists in Bromley wouldn’t have a fucking clue about.
Public transport isn’t just about work commuting. You socialist’s should know these things. I doubt it.
