We'll see over the next few games where exactly we're at.

I think that’s the key we will hopefully play better against better opposition and not switch off

this looking great for 30 minutes each game has happened most games this season needs sorting out . but these next few games will be a leveller

Best bit...

No yellow for George

Not sure how the ref didn't book him in last minute, without seeing it close up it looked awful at first sight, their player still down well after the final whistle.

Ref was very lenient with his cards which does make a refreshing change, I wish we'd had him v Posh.

Daft isn't it- we're fourth with the chance to move up further with a game in hand..

I'd personally take 4th all day long with this squad but if the target is/was 2nd, we're not only off the pace but have used up our "joker" of the easiest run of fixtures to start a season anyone could have dreamed of.  So we need a better points per game ratio from now, with much harder fixtures on paper.

Anyway credit where its due, the first half hour was great to watch and reminded us what we can do on a good day (or half hour).

Agree with most comments regarding 1st/2nd half's

Couldn't believe the shit Cogley got 2nd half when he slowed the game down  just after they scored. When will some fans learn that if we've got the ball it means they don't so it's impossible for them to gain momentum and score again

Exact copy of Port Vale and many of our games, why can we only play well for 1 half? At half time we abandoned our entire philosophy and tactics, when it was killing the opposition, why?

I think there's a serious mentality issue in the squad, we seem so scared and nervy. We need to play most games with the shackles off and popping it around.

We have got to play better for longe periods if we even want to discuss promotion.

Sheehan was my MOM today. Morley was good in parts, Charles worked hard as always as did Victor. We Need to be more clinical in front of goal. Williams, though he scored, is a bag of wank,

Yes Sheehan was a class above anyone else on the pitch, hard to believe he looked like a squad player 8 months ago, now he's undroppable.

As bad as Williams can be, credit for the 2 goals and a decent 1st half, but Cogley took terrible to a different level today (and not much better v Carlisle).  Yet with Jones now treated as a CB, Cogley has zero competition for his place, that has got to change in January surely.

Aye

I wonder how much his injury troubles were affecting him last season

What about the other, more senior players?

Folk seem ready to pick up on Thomason far more readily than any of the others.

Should he necessarily be the one having to ball and shout and pull others through,

Of course he should do his bit, but so should others.

Its either in your character/personality or it isn't, you can't tell a Kieron Lee or Aaron Morley to be vocal, it has to be natural like a Spearing or Nolan or even Sarcevic (maybe he was too much of a moaner/too negative with teammates?).  It seemed odd to me that Dempsey was captain at Gillingham because he never appears to open his mouth, just looks permanently grumpy!  Looking from afar we have a team of players that aren't natural leaders, although Jones and Santos do have some leadership/organisational qualities.

Vital to not throw that away.

Northampton were the worst side I've seen come here in League 1. If we had been playing anyone else today, we perhaps wouldnt have won... but, you can only play whats in front of you.

Baffled by the Jekyll and Hyde performance, but positive hat on, there's flashes of brilliance in this side. Just wish they'd had the confidence to push on; there was opportunity for a cricket score today.

Do we need 3 strikers on the bench?

Just one midfielder and 2 defenders.

Anyway, be nice to give Maghoma some minutes.

Just keep at it at the start of the half, and see if we can grab a third.

I asked evatt about this at a q&a last season, basically asked why he didn't put a keeper on the bench

He said as obvious as it might sound his philosophy is to score more than the opposition so that's how he approaches each game and has players on the bench that he can look to to change things if it's not working out

Morley was quality for 15 mins at the start of each half.

Paris looked unfit or out of touch every time he was near the ball.

Most the others, 6 - 7/10. Nobody had a stinker, nobody starred.

Job done, less comfortable than it should have been

Cogley 3 out of 10 in my opinion, but we all see games different.

Agreed on Morley, some real quality at times.

Agreed on Paris, worryingly off the pace and if he's not fit it was a stupid substitution at 2-1 to take Morley off for him.

Thought Victor was superb today and the midfield was well on top until did our usual fuck about in the second half.

same starting eleven Tuesday and like others have said we need a 90 minute performance. Paris and Dan were both awful when they came on so if we could put others on the bench I would be more confident

Taking Dion and Victor off was another silly substitution

Not sure how you give him 3, wasn’t involved much didn’t do anything wrong. I think he’s had a decent start to his Bolton career plays all games and rarely subbed, seems IE likes him.

45 minutes of Brazil. 45 minutes of Alan Brazil.

Played some great stuff first half. Real, top drawer passing football that genuinely no team in this league could live against. Second half like a team of strangers who couldn’t string two passes together and sleepwalked (again) in to letting Northampton back in to the game.

A win’s a win but Williams must have felt like he was on a hiding to nothing getting the ball on the edge of our box from one of their throw ins and seeing he was the furthest man forward. That really has to be on Evatt, particularly as none of their expected long throws actually turned in to anything even remotely threatening, but we had 10 men in our own box and one stood on the thrower. Our strength is when we’re on the front foot and yet somehow we seem determined to drop back in these situations when at one stage we looked good for scoring three or four.

Absolutely baffling, but pick up another 4-6 points this week (a big ask, I know) and surely the confidence will start to flow and that’s when we really become dangerous.
