It's perfectly possible that he thought the manager wanted to protect him, as it was a second knock on the same place, so accepted the decision.

The comments say that the medical mon went off with him.

Maybe only afterwards, when he heard the reasons, he realised that there had been a misunderstanding, and that the message on the pitch to Santos had been misconstrued.

Shouldn't happen, but an understandable explanation.

It does one thing ... makes clear tje manager's critical to this simple action.

That, in itself, does another thing. It tells Evatt to calm the fuck down & stop getting booked.

Not necessarily.

The inference was a misunderstanding on the pitch.

Doesn't matter who get told the message, if the message is wrong initially.

Of course Evatt needs to stop getting yellows, but that's separate.

Good finishes from JDB

Great finish for the 2nd. And both goals really.

A fit firing JDB is what we all want to see with Charles up top but there's no point rushing it and having a great pairing for 3 games then 6 months out.

If he's going to break down by playing more than 25 minutes, why is he being risked in meaningless and/or easy cup games?  He's been fit enough to start 4 cup games, I'm sure they try as hard in those games and take as much physical punishment etc.  Surely if a key player is being used sparingly he'd be used for the games that matter, if Santos or Charles were only partly fit they'd start league games and wouldn't go near a cup game.

I think games like last night are exactly what JDB needs in order to build both fitness and confidence. He did miss a decent chance just before the first goal, but once he’d got his eye in you could see him being a lot more confident to take things on, and in turn also cut down on how many times he was offside because he was that bit more comfortable on the shoulder.

Must say it was an absolute pleasure to watch Morley and Thomason spraying the ball about for the second half. We looked like creating a good chance every time we went forward and how we didn’t bag enough three or four is beyond me.

Much more enjoyable night than I’d have expected from a group game.

i'm sorry, he doesn't

There was a review on Sky towards the end of last season on L! play off winners with a former Charlton manager ?Ben Garner. He said he really fancied us now e had signed Dan Ndlunlu from Southampton who he rated as an all round striker. Still I suppose you know better, errr!

A good/interesting response, not disagreeing.  I'd also think Vic needs to build his confidence by playing in games like last night as he isn't currently doing it in the league (IMO, others will disagree, fair enough).  If Vic had bagged a couple last night it would arguably do him similar good as it does JDB.  It just seems puzzling to me that JDB is still building fitness after 4 months (including pre-season), if Vic had been out injured are we saying Dan would have started most games because IE didn't want to compromise JDBs fitness?  (rhetorical question, only IE knows).

Fwiw, i think vic plays because he does exactly the job hes asked to do and the team is scoring plenty and winning...winning being the key point

If that changes, then i can see evatt changing things if vic is still failing to score, but while we win, no way

He's literally said that because we got him from a prem club

Love to hear why he rates him, got a link?

Only saw them highlights but Dan looked good and laid a few good balls on that should have been taken with Morley missing them. It was a walk in the park though and we did what we needed to do

Dan looked sharp until he reached their box, at which point he began to twist and turn in a bid to buy time for others to join in so he could relieve himself of the responsibility of shooting.

Lad needs to be told to starting shooting, it worked away at Bristol Rovers and besides all the layoffs he did last night got wasted by Morley & Jerome.

Spot on.

JDBs fitness is a complex situation which none of us truly understand.

In the 2nd half of the season we might really need him.

Evatt knows it's a sensitive situation and he's managing it well.

Fairs fair he’s managing the situation very well it’s working so far

yes you can only deal with now and promotion/signings is later talk but I still can’t understand why we paid fees and long deals for these guys if we get promoted they’ll be massively out their depth it’s a complete clear out in that area if the case

If we go up I suspect you'll be right, recruitment at the top end a priority.

Its old ground, but I think there was an understandable rationale behind the striker signings at the time.

But they don't always work out the way it's intended.

Fully agree with your sentiment about the here and now, which is going pretty well, with all the strikers getting some game time to contribute.

Just looking at the brief highlights, I think you're right in that he didn't manage to get a shot off. That said, defenders were getting back, and I suppose it's that decision making at that moment- if he feels he's better off keeping possession and waiting for support then it's fair enough, as long as it arrives and goals are scored.

In the end it was others who missed their shots.

I reckon he'd need a good run if games to see if he can start scoring; get some confidence to finish off those runs himself etc. That's isn't happening though whilst we're doing well.

Fwiw, as I've said before, I don't think he has the instinctive movement in the box in the way out and out finishers have, but then again not all strikers are Johnny on the spot types.

I dunno if he will make it with us, but hes in good company getting called on here/facebook/rwitter

He can join santos, williams, jones, iredale, thomasson, morley and jerome

All got/had their critics

Am I understanding you correctly?

Are you suggesting players who aren’t performing should be immune from criticism?

Needs to shoot here

If you don't shoot, you don't score.
If you don't score, you're always under scrutiny.
