On Saturday for the second goal the defence were very passive, it is a massive difference when a defence is proactive and one player attacks the ball. I think it's an area we are generally weak at on long balls , very rarely one of centre halves attacks the ball and sends a thumping header clear. Santos prefers to try and claim rather than clear the ball for instance. suppose it is true for all positions that being decisive rather than waiting makes a massive difference. Apologies - Coleman not Baxter. Still getting used to all the new names this season. Agree with your other points too. Quote

Apart from the one obvious fuck up, we attacked every cross, corner, pass that came into our area, and we didn’t really give them any chances. Just what we need, especially over these next two games. the second half full stop everything moved up a few notches speed, intensity, directness, no pondering they came out and did exactly what I assume they are coached to do, and it was a joy to watch Quote

But then, I suppose they would. As for the game itself, as long as it's not overboard, it's perfectly reasonable to fans to be critical if they feel we're not playing well, so long as it's balanced the other way. For me, at the moment, I think we're starting a bit too slowly and making hard work for ourselves. Just shows what we can do. fwiw, we had the first big chance of last night Quote

That virtually guarantees Kachunga playing presumably. 49 minutes ago, DomRepWanderer said: I thought Kachunga was acting the cunt last night, fuck him. He was acting the cunt, but was also his usual ineffective self. I'd be happy for us to play against him every week. Quote

Moderators Casino Posted February 21 Moderators Posted February 21 i also know we didnt start slow last night then confidence took a knock then we came again even first half was ok, if not our best meltdown was total overeaction, but appreciate nerves are getting frayed but, in accepting that, folk should realise its even worse for those trying to play Quote
L/H White Posted February 21 Posted February 21 'apparently' last night was only the 2nd time from 9 games where we've conceded first and gone onto win this season Quote

We had a lot of the ball but didn't do anything with it and played way too slowly. Complete shift in the second half when we started moving it a lot faster with more intensity and purpose. We need to play like the second half for 90 mins these next 2 games. Quote
Moderators Casino Posted February 21 Moderators Posted February 21 i did say it wasnt 100%, neither was it meltdown tackle we generally had 2 centre backs within 40 yards, or less, of their goal cant be easy playing against that Quote

Popeye doyle Posted February 21 Posted February 21 There’s speculation Millwall are sacking their current manager and Neil Harris is going back. Looks like the home game versus Cambridge could be with a new manager in charge. Quote

Whereas earlier in the season picking up a point would be a reasonable result, games like last night all feel like ‘must win’ now. I completely agree with your view of the first half. If CMG gets more on the follow up to Bod’s shot in the first 5 mins then it should be plain sailing. Likewise, if their goal doesn’t get a flukey deflection and we go in 0-0 then you’d be relatively happy and know they’re there for the taking. Unfortunately, because of our record (or lack of) for coming from a goal down it looked like we’d fucked it at half time and people will pick things to pieces because of the pressure on every win - which seemed unlikely at the time. I keep saying this but it will only get worse and worse as we get closer to the end of the season - rationality is going further and further out of the window. Nerves are going to be fucked, every goal conceded will feel like the end of the world, every half of football will be scrutinised and over exaggerated. As long as the team get the backing in the ground, as they did last night, then people letting off steam on a forum, no matter how irrational, is just going to have to be accepted to a certain degree. He looked like a strange appointment from day one, although I didn't realise he was Frank Lampard's assistant at both Everton and Chelsea. No doubt he'll be waiting for Frank to get another gig. I wasn't watching, but reading comments from those that were, it seemed we were ponderous and ineffective, particularly in the final third, where we weren't creating much, and as evidenced, not making the most of what we did. Speeding up the play, getting them on the back foot, and hey presto, Sheehan gets time to cook himself an egg before playing a killer pass! Quote
