Well without counting chickens could we have got a better draw? Without wishing to be disrespectful, whatever team we put out should be more than capable of seeing off Harrogate so hopefully then a big money draw for the next round would be very helpful for financing an improvement in the squad in January.

Yes.

Beat Harrogate, get United away, make a shitload of cash and progress to Round 4.

I can't find a record of it so I'm beginning to doubt myself, but I remember reading something about Sutton United being one of only three teams we've played on two or more occasions without ever winning (the others being Marseilles and Sporting Lisbon) Is this bollocks or do we have some unfinished business that could be resolved if both teams get through to round 3?

EDIT: Just found a third team with the hoodoo on us - these boys back in the 1880s :) (Two draws and a loss in the third replay in in the 1883 FA Cup)

Nothing on Sutton though.

I don't think we've ever played Sutton

Looks that way, but there's something in the back of my mind about pre-season friendlies or similar - but it's probably just bad brains :)

Genuinely feel sick going to that shot hole. But needs must.

Pedantically we've never played Sporting Lisbon either

Correct. You are being pedantic.

To quote the oracle that is wiki:

Sporting Clube de Portugal, otherwise referred to as Sporting CP or simply Sporting, or as Sporting Lisbon in other countries, is a Portuguese sports club based in Lisbon.

How was the player deemed ineligible? Is this a technicality or an out and out set of cheating cunts?

By the way, their forums are quite busy.

Just looked. It seems a player  Auden Marsh, had been out on loan at York City at the time of the first game v Horsham. He was subsequently recalled and was played in the replay. Apparently the players in a replay must’ve been available to play in the first game.
