Probably best kept out the football thread but seriously, can anyone make a case for Police smashing lads doors in at 5:30am in the morning and dragging them out of bed for a bit of a scuffle after a football match?

Its absolutely outrageous. 

When everyone got done after Lincoln the Lincoln copper rang each lad involved and arranged a voluntary interview where evidence was shown and they were charged. 

Shows how easy it can be done.

Not condoning scrapping in the street but fuck me what a waste of resources and total over reaction.

I don't usually buy heavily into this police against football fans agenda, but on this I agree, it seems unnecessary- why I make the jocular comment on the other thread about it resembling the IDF.

There may be specific reasons I suppose, but it does seem a bit strange.

Football lads are always treated worse than the norm, at least these days the Police seem to have realised that they do not need to treat all fans in the same way.

The lads who get involved must know the risks. Kicking doors through and dawn raids seems more a case of GMP wanting to grab a few headlines rather than really cracking down on anything significant.

Well they do and they have.

One lad nicked was a just a normal bloke caught up in it and was stopping Wigan attacking his local.

Ive not heard of half the lads nicked, certainly no previous and most seem kids.

Just dont get any of it. They are hardly smashed an OCG. Its even clear from the footage it's not an organised gang fight or even what you'd class proper hooligans.

I think the police are pretending theyve smashed some kind of notorious hooligan gang or summet.

Exactly this . Send a bobby round and say come in at whatever time. It isn't like they can destroy evidence The cops have the camera  footage .Grandstanding by GMP . I wish they would put this effort into investigating burglary or tool theft .

Although it no doubt happens, allowing a system that gives tacit agreement to prisoners punishing other prisoners is a slippery slope.
