The Final

Santos reminds me of that shit supervisor/foreman we have all come across at some point.

He got the job because he can play but he cant lead and his presence prevents other better leaders from stepping up .

The armband needs taking off him so he can concentrate on playing. If that causes friction then he should be shown the door.

No room for sentiment,

Fuck Maghoma, we need a proper 90 minute centre mid with experience.

We need a lot more than a cm, probably start with a new manager

Maghoma at least offers something different

The walking up for a corner at 80 mins, Maghoma making it all about him and wasting time coming off… the list could go on & on.

Has anyone ever seen that from any team in such a big game at Wembley before? Because I honestly can’t remember seeing anything like it, from anyone.

It’s not even about coming out guns blazing. It’s that we didn’t even come out giving above 50%.

If a manager can’t instil that on a team before such a huge game, or even at half time, then there is a huge issue.

Gomes can do that… spend any spare on a hard bastard in midfield who been there done that.

Take it you don’t remember Stoke at Wembley.

Wouldn't sign Ogbeta or Maghoma. The game was too big for Ogbeta yesterday, he wasn't up to it. Compare it with Bradley's performances last year and it doesn't stand up. Paris has done well, but would rather give Morley a chance in midfield, or why has he been signed up long term?

Over promises and under delivers. Rinse and repeat.

A stubborn, arrogant bully who is out-thought time after time after time.

A team of talented players on their day, yet mentally weak cowards when it really matters.

We’ve bought into your bluster and promises and you have failed to deliver.

We really don’t care how much you supposedly love the club and the fans.

I’ve worked with hundreds of people like you, who talk the talk but can’t walk the walk.

Anyway, he will not be here in August in my opinion.

Some sugar coated bullshit from the owners, because he is not only lacking in ability, he doesn’t handle pressure well at all. That will mount now.

Anyway a 4th season in this fucking awful league.

Burton here we come.

All very well Steve Evans saying nice things about us but we'll be playing Stevenage again next season (and his Rotherham)

Just watched the game again ffs how bad was it right from the start Oxfords game plan was like several other teams who have beaten and bullied us let the chuckle brothers have the ball at the back mark up on our midfield give Sheehan a kick so he then shits himself and becomes invisible.
Then game over as we are clueless but what annoyed me the most was no changes at half time wtf is Evatt and his coaching staff watching ?
Evatt is either stupid or like others have said bloody stubborn no excuse from the coaching staff or the players you let us down again in a big game .
Major decision needed from the board now and if Evatt stays if he does not change we are in for a rough season coming up!

Just had a look back at that second goal. The ref is running back faster than all our players! Fucking pathetic stuff.

Santos doing the Santos stroll but that's what we're used to. His reaction to us conceeding any goal is enough to take the armband off him

Tried to avoid posting last night because it’s hard to be rational after such a draining, emotional day (although I did try my best when having the pleasure of bumping in to the @tomski plan in some mad, hidden tapas bar near Kings Cross)

Overall, a team who literally has one or two players gain pass marks out of the entire squad is never, ever going to win a game. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard and all that.

We did so well against Plymouth - and the first leg at Barnsley - because we played with purpose, tempo and intensity. Not necessarily direct, but every pass was with a goal of running the opposition about, creating space and ultimately creating chances.

Once you’re in a pattern of players being sluggish in possession then it’s really hard to snap out of that, and good god the sight of Santos and Toal just passing between themselves (after a bout of ‘foot on the ball’, of course) was just harrowing.

Oxford came with a plan to smother our midfield and carried it out to a tee. Ogbeta had the freedom of Wembley in the first half, and Oxford genuinely didn’t seem to know how to cope with him on the occasions he did get the chance to have a go at them, but they were so few and far between that they had plenty of chance to work out how to cope. It was almost as if they’d been training with Williams there for 10 days and didn’t want to give it to the last minute replacement because he was last pick on the schoolyard by default.

Not seen anything back (nor am I planning to) so not seen a replay of the initial challenge on Maghoma, but to be honest it just gave me the impression that he wasn’t up for the scrap. Managing to get through 45 minutes, come out at half time and then decide another 90 seconds was more than enough didn’t do much to dissuade that thought. He might have genuinely been injured, in which case he should have been dragged off much earlier, but his attitude didn’t exactly smack of running through walls to get the job done.

The lack of leadership from Santos was staggering, and this play off run has shown the best and worst of him, and then some. Imperious in the first leg and then a nervous wreck in the second leg. Once he put his foot on top of the ball for the first time yesterday, you just knew, didn’t you?

All that talk of the Wembley pitch suiting us to stretch the play, and we had to watch ‘to me, to you’ for most of the game.

I still believe in the Evatt project, albeit largely by default because so much has been invested in to it, and I don’t think any of us really know what the next step would be. But a manager, and by extension his captain, has to be reflective of his team, and currently that it is wildly irrational, inconsistent, and just outright baffling at times. No chance he’s getting sacked, but he looked a broken man at times in the last few weeks and you wonder whether he’s got the stomach for another tip at it.

The parallels with the Watford game were just staggering. We had a world class player that afternoon in Gudjohnsen who saved that final for the worst game of his life, and it felt like they all did the same yesterday.

I don’t think I even felt that angry yesterday. I just felt deflated, let down, empty. I’ll be glad for the break, that’s for sure.

Just on an off-field note, it really wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere for a lot of the game. I know it was never going to be enjoyable given the result, but I couldn’t believe how many people were absolutely off their face well before kick off, and it was no wonder there were pockets of people kicking off with each other all over the place. Bet some of the coach journeys home were grim as fuck. Managed to have a good day of it all the same, minus the 90 minutes, and the pubs at the back of Euston Road nearer to Kings Cross were absolutely outstanding.

/end waffle

Never forget that one mate.

This feels worse for me. 5 shots on target in the semi final, same at Oxford managed yesterday. We didn’t clock a single shot on target yesterday.

Still feel dramatic after a sleep, but other than Baxter, Toal, Dempsey and Collins the rest can go, including the coaching staff.

Was never fully confident after the ‘beers on the pitch celebration’. Spineless wankers. Good job we renewed weeks back.

Fuck football for a couple of months.

Did u mention the fact that they are celebrating selling 1k season tickets.have a shit fan base, almost zero relevant history,an owner who has no interest in them and they are basically tenants in the ground they share with a rugby league team that gets more fans than they do.

Or did you just tell him to get to fuck
