radcliffe white Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 The one thing I do like out of the last two games is we ain’t taking bad challenges, players are getting in faces and showing some fight Quote

It's a friendly, and one without plenty of regulars. Glad I watched the tennis. It was obvious when these friendly fixtures were announced that it would have been a tougher pre season than usual, think IE said it himself. Even with a fully fit squad it would have been a challenge. What’s the saying , you learn more from your defeats. Quote

Struggling to get too worked up about tonight. Only a one goal defeat to a team in a higher league, after all. I’ll reserve judgement until a few games in, but it’s hard to see us starting like a house on fire. Quote

All 4 results/performances meaningless, prepare us not one bit for Orient away or Wrexham home when it will be different intensity and line up. Quote
DazBob Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Watched the second half. Only things I took from it are 1) Victor looked sharp and held the ball up better than I've seen him do before. 2) There was often a huge gap between our defence and midfield when Stewk attacked us at any pace. Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Just back. Really sluggish first half although Stoke didn't have that many chances. Much better tempo 2nd. Nervy start from Southwood, not that good at playing it out particularly when those in front of him are fannying about, but he made a good save and grew into it. Baxter clearly 1st choice for now. Better when Tommo came on in midfield. Morley poor as others have said. Arfield solid. Reserving judgement on Lolos. Dion looked lively just needs some game time as does Johno, but we are much better with a natural left footed CB. Quote

Well it’s not like everyone in the league didn’t see Oxford do a job on us so we need to evole or show a plan B . Evatt as acknowledged that can he do it fuck knows think a lot depends on this transfer window panning out as he wants Quote

athywhite1958 Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Arfield looking a good signing, Conway will get better, the future is good Quote
paulhanley Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 You genuinely can't place too much store by results in pre-season. The amount of times I've seen us rack up unconvincing results and then have a great start to the actual season, or vice versa. We need to get players fit and firing for Orient. Every season needs to start well. After Wembley it feels like there's less leeway than ever for an average or poor start. Quote

Middlesbrough this season too. Edited July 31, 2024 by Tonge moor green jacket Quote
