Farrelli Posted July 20 Posted July 20 There are a few over reactions for our second pre season game. Hangover from Wembley may be our biggest problem this season (fans not players). Quote

DomRepWanderer Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Couldn't give a shiny shit for pre season results, but do about all the injuries Quote

There was a few weeks where the club was just shut. Quote

Things will turn toxic pretty sharpish this season, make no mistake. It's gonna be fucking grim unless we hit the ground running. Wembley fucked the job up beyond comprehension. No good will left. Aye but I think Orient after 20 minutes is all it will take unfortunately. Quote

I am completely uninterested as to whether we have won or lost a friendly. Injuries are a concern and as to whether we are looking after our players. Our wing backs are often injured, they are asked to work very hard. Even Bradley went back to Liverpool with an injury. Charles’ knee breakdown is another example. Was he brought back to soon. Santos has been carrying an injury since last Christmas, after coming out of hospital with I think pneumonia. Hopefully he is better now. As for the second part I have no idea, but the defeat at Wembley and the silence did not stack up right. i am very hopeful for the new season and I think there looks to be some exciting signings on the way. Although, I feel it is reasonable to raise these concerns as they stand at the moment. I am not in meltdown!!! Quote

Poor start (out of play offs) and Evatt is gone at the start of October. As you say it will get toxic quick after last season. In terms of predictions I actually think this is most likely unfortunately - mid table by Oct, Evatt sacked, then meander towards a 10th placed finish. Only pre season but the signs aren't good. 1969 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Normally I would be counting the days until the new season but at the moment I really couldn't care less even though I've renewed.I really hope I'm wrong but all I can see is 8th-14th finish and a nothing season Quote
Dr. Feelgood Posted July 20 Posted July 20 1 hour ago, nantwichwhite said: ... the silence did not stack up right. Agreed. I think Sharon B explained it. She, personally, was shell-shocked after Wembley & needed not to think about football. Evatt was hit extremely hard & contemplated walking. Just like many fans but much more involved. The scale of that wasn't down to losing, but the manner of it. Those old enough have been there before with Ian Greaves' team (Reid, Allardyce, Jones, Whatmore etc.) as it took 3 goes having blown it twice. But I didn't feel then as I do now. I do agree that we need to have a strong start or fans will turn on Evatt, especially if he just pours out the same ol', same ol'. Quote
jmjhb Posted July 20 Posted July 20 It's a shame really considering how on-board the fans were towards the end of last season. Quote

Take Hunt Off Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Christ , pass the arsenic around . Bloody hell it’s only pre-season & we are already fucked according to some on here . Get a grip . If Evatt loses a few games early doors do you think his potential sacking will end happily given our morbid history of panic sackings ? Quote
Big E Posted July 20 Posted July 20 It is only preseason and the scores do not bother me. I am concerned though we were poor towards the end of the season and didn’t go up. We are then starting the season again doing the same thing. He says he loves 433 but doesn’t play it. Seems very strange Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 20 Site Supporter Posted July 20 Strangely, ober the years, it seems that whenever we've had a "good pre-season" the actual season can be a bit of a let down. Don't mind losing a game so long as fitness and match sharpness is building. Hope that the results/fitness gets better as the season approaches, but certainly no worries. The injury list is a worry, and it seems to be a bit of a recurring theme that doesn't seem to improve. The biggest concern for me. Quote

Don’t get me wrong, if we’re into November and off the pace then questions will need to be asked and answered. But the craziness we’re going to have to face before that in pre-season defeats and in moments in games when there’s a mistake or poor play and folk start bellowing at Evatt and the players is going to be unbearable. It’s making me think twice about Orient and Charlton etc. I’ll end up spending most of my time arguing with folk. I pray to God we make a decent start and Evatt gets it right from the off. Quote
