I hated it when you blocked a casey with your inner thigh/ bell end leathered at you from a yard away in the snow. Fucking stung.

Not too hot, not too cold - there is definitely a perfect temperature for playing footie.

Fucking hell. Character building FFS. Should be more of it.

Always liked playing on a mild day with a very fine drizzle though so agree on the 'perfect' bit.

One trend I'm glad has stopped is the players hitching their shorts up before free kicks to show off their thighs.....

I guess the socks rolled down/holes in the back is to show off their calves, so I reckon next up will be something like sleeves rolled up to show off their biceps.

One thing that has completely changed over the last 20 years is shirts being untucked. Used to think I was cool back in the 2000s not tucking it in, but now even centre back cloggers don't tuck in.

I blame Terry Cooper for that. He started it with white boots in the 70s

I thought it was Alan Ball. Plus George, drunk twat, Best had mauve ones with laces on the outside.

Either way, the idea of Motor-Way Worker Yellow, Opal Fruit Green, Skittle Orange 'back in the day' doesn’t bear thinking about.

... & while we're at it, the ovver elaborate hair.

I'm sure Carrington has more hair dressers than coaches. If Pogba had spent as much energy on his playing as he did on his hair he'd not be a drugged-up has-been.

Then there was the time you went up for the header and ended up with a lace imprint on your forehead like Frankenstein

Not after 5 pints and/or 10 tabs there wasn’t.

I’ve never been a smoker but I can vouch for both of the above.

Quick guzzle of sherry from the kit hag and you'll be right as rain 🙂

Might as well rename this thread, old bastards complain about things that don't matter.

Or a forum where people to let off steam about other people letting off steam.

Better than 'posturing twats try to stay relevant & are still scoffed at by da yoof, innit'.

Ah let the youth do their thing, I enjoyed being young, although I'm quite enjoying my middle age. My 40s have been great so far. Much better than my 30s by a massive stretch.

I'm at that age where people don't laugh at me any more if I fall over, they rush across to see if I'm okay...

Aye me too, but I was mortified last week on the bus when a young woman asked me if I wanted to sit down.

I laid on my back on site a few weeks ago to get a measurement from the floor to the roof using my electronic pinger and the cladding contractor came running over thinking the old bugger contracts manager had had a turn.. I had to tell him to fk off and give someone else the kiss of life 🙂

What is this hole in the socks thing meant to achieve?

My lads are in to the grip socks trend at the minute which involves cutting the end of your socks off and replacing them with another sock with grips on it.

Absolute bollocks.

The new style socks are so much tighter than they used to be- the cuts relieve pressure on the calves (apparently). What colour socks do your lads play in? I’ll give you a couple of pairs of grip socks first game of season… I can vouch for how they make your boots feel better- 1% and all that

Being a centre half I've had imprints from shots I've got in the way of (intentionally or otherwise) that have still been visible a couple of days later.  Today's pro's wouldn't know much about that, no bugger ever shoots unless they've completed 100 passes first and when they do its airy fairy curled efforts, they wouldn't know what a pile driver is!

40's were good. 50's were even better as the kids got into their 20's and moved out, passed driving tests, and started earning money

You're not allowed to call her that anymore.
