I’ve got a feeling that they’re not even going to make the play offs this year and will be languishing in mid table - a bit after the lord mayor’s show (we know the feeling). Could be proved completely wrong and they romp the league but I just don’t think they’re much special. I agree Eddie, that’s 3 of their better players lost now with Will Collar and their Centre half Fraser Horsfall to Blackpool and whilst I have the utmost respect for Dave Challinor I think he’s going find it hard to replace such important players so like you I think last season may have been their best chance and they may struggle this time. Might others from the outside say that about us with Baxter, Santos, and Collins, we knew the flaws of the first two but would they. Quote

Just something that makes me think last year was their chance. Quote
Rizlar Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Stockport signed Mothersille from Peterboro over a million spent on him. Quote
Duck Egg Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Challinor's record in management suggests Stockport will at least be as strong next year. Wouldn't surprise me if it's his last season there. Another good one and he'll get a job at Burnley, Leicester or similar. Quote

The pull of the Championship might've been too much anyway but would've been worth a shot and certainly a good way to de-rail the competition. Quote

Yes Zog and they may well be right. Whilst both Baxter and Rico have moved up to Championship teams it remains to be seen how much game time they get. I can’t see Baxter being first choice at Watford straight away but if Rico regains full fitness I’d say he’s every chance of being used regularly at Swansea. With Rico I’m not sure it was his ability that was in doubt, more his attitude and I think it was time to part ways. I wish them both well though for what they did whilst here. As I said I have the utmost respect for Dave Challinor and I’m sure he’ll replace those three well but I was a bit surprised how well they did last year and question if they can do it again? Quote

Yes, we were off the pace throughout last season, and from that squad we're losing two proven L1 keepers (only replacing one), Santos, Collins, Jones and Matete. And, a few months earlier, you can add Williams and Charles. Hard to say if that currently makes us even worse than we were, or if its an opportunity to improve. We currently have no idea if the new signings are better or worse, and other clubs like Stockport could say the same about the players they've lost, they'll be trying as hard as us to improve. Quote
tomski Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Stockport are a nobody club from a suburb of south Manchester. We need to think bigger here Quote
gonzo Posted July 2 Posted July 2 See Blackpool got that Argie goalie from Wycombe. Good signing that. Quote
Steejay Posted July 2 Posted July 2 And Posh bank another £3.5m for a CH that I’ve never heard of. Kerching. Quote

Duck Egg Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Posh had that Paedo from Southampton running their youth programs several years ago. If you ignore all the noncing, seems he got the set up right over there. They must have sold millions worth of talent over the last 10-15 years. Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted July 4 Author Posted July 4 Wigan signed Callum Wright on loan from Plymouth, he played 40 games for them last season. That seems like a solid signing unfortunately. From Huyton so presumably wants to get back up north. Quote

Popular Post Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 4 Popular Post Posted July 4 Bollocks to the other teams. Can end up creating a sense of doom around yourself. SS has our back, and that's all we can expect now. Fuck Wigan, fuck Stockport, fuck em all. Look forward to the season, and what the new dawn brings. Quote
