gonzo
Had enough for a bit me. The thought of pre season games already being underway depresses me massively. After the play offs and last night I want to hibernate from football for a few months. Questioning why I invest so much energy into something that just continually kicks you in the bollocks. W.cramp
Didn't think I would feel so not arsed about england as I do this morning. Under performing knackered multi millionaires. Get these pre season kickabouts out the way and roll on 10th August. Have a month away from looking at any football gonzo then come back refreshed and raring. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 15 Site Supporter Share Posted July 15 I think most of us were that way at the start ofbthe euros. Having got through to the final, it was inevitable we get invested again.
wiggy
Spare a thought for my son. Over the past 2 months he's been involved in 7 finals. Lost every one of them. Brutal. We're definitely ready for a break!

Stig
Difference in a non WC/Euros year and if you don't make the play offs is staggering. We'd have had 2 and a half months of no footy by now and be raring to go.

Members DazBob
I was pissed off for a couple of hours last night, but it didn't even compare to us losing to Oxford. Not even close. I think the Euros was the least interested I have ever been in a tournament in my life. Not sure if this is because of last season or because the last three major tournaments have been so close together. Hopefully I'll get my mojo back for the next World Cuo. If I ever see Harry Kane walking around in an England shirt again though I think I'll combust
bwfcfan5
Still not over Wembley now. England although it was a disappointment 5 minutes after full time whistle I was beyond it. Didn’t expect to beat Spain and it was for me the first tournament in my life where I’ve not been that bothered. The thought of another slog in league one is not whetting my appetite though I’ve got to be honest. Building a decent squad though and Evatt says we have more money to spend so maybe by August that will change.

If I ever see Harry Kane walking around in an England shirt again though I think I'll combust I'm same, I got the buzz of scoring the equaliser, going crazy in the pub, but I couldn't raise any dejection at the end, it was all positive for the enjoyment of the match and atmosphere. If we'd won it would have been an injustice and a load of over the top reaction. If we get to the final of every tournament every 2 years for the rest of my life and don't win any, I will have enjoyed them all (just qualifying for a World Cup/Euros seemed beyond us in the 70s). Its about the journey not the outcome for me, my attitude is just to enjoy the thing for what it is, its sport, it certainly doesn't affect my life in any way, just a pleasant distraction. Like you, it doesn't come close to a Bolton play off defeat, because the pain of that carries on into the following season when you see the fixture list and have less enthusiasm than you would have in a higher division. But let's not go there again!
deeane Koontz
These Euro's and England have been a chore to watch. Think I've gone full circle since 2018 that world cup got me back into football. Now I'm feeling I'm back to forcing interest again. Definitely not been helped with Evatt 🤣

Leyther_Matt
This is where it comes in handy to get knocked out in the group stages. Means the disappointment is out of your system before the season even starts. Though the disappointment levels were absolutely poles apart.

Wanderlust
Sorry folks but I thought the Euros were excellent with some cracking games especially in the group stages - England not so much if only because I disagreed with the tactics and the use of subs. I mean some of those games we didn't need Bellingham on the left protecting the WB and whilst Harry Kane defended well, it's not his job and we needed someone like Watkins making runs at the business end, not a "striker" playing in midfield. We have a decent squad but it was massively underused and I'd have happily stuck Wharton next to Rice to free up the forward line. I'm convinced a more aggressive approach would have made the difference. England frustrations aside, it was enjoyable to watch. That said I'll watch L2, Scottish footie and non-league when I get the chance so maybe I'm not that fussy.

I enjoyed the games generally, some real quality and great excitement at times (apart from our earlier games of course!). Overall, a good enjoyable tournament with fantastic stadiums and atmosphere, which isn't normally the case given some of the strange choices of hosts we've seen. captainmed
Know what you mean. I would always go to new grounds (IE. Bishop Auckland) this week and I just can’t be arsed. Been looking at the fixture list and I honestly can’t see me going to an away until Brum in late October. Once that starts we all know how it ends . I got over last season's debacle partway through the Euros, giving me a clear run at the tournament, but I never really got into it or became too invested, just watched the odd game (mainly Georgia). England bored me and I always expected us to fuck it up, so I was mildly annoyed last night for about 10 mins and now I'm ready for next season. My wingman gets home from Uni next Monday and the sun actually shone for a few hours today. COYWM
