Sat on my own tonight drinking 8% Polish beer, always gets me thinking..... what's your top 3 bolton fan moments and why? There will be popular moments shared by the majority...and some ad hoc moments..... For me....

1. Aaron Wilbrham v Forest 2018. Doesn't need much explanation....if it does, Google it ha

2. Bolton 6-1 Spurs. 1996. First season supporting Bolton, was footballing homeless at this point in my life, being a armchair Newcastle fan cos me dad was contracting up there. Totally spoilt that season, won nearly every home game, dished out some batterings.  Banging a star studded spurs was beautiful as a Newby fan

3. Shrewsbury 0-1 Bolton, 2022. We where just on the turn here, it was the first away game / stop over with both my boys and we won 1-0 last minute thanks to a Dion thumper. Best mate was also in tow and we had a few hundred quid on us to win at 5/2 or there abouts....paid for a fee days on a golf course in Spain. Plus the lads saw pure away last minute ecstasy on their first outing!

Stu Holden v Blackburn has to be up there. Don't think I've ever celebrated at the Reebok like that. Whole place was going nuts

The way my brain works means I’m hopeless at this sort of stuff.  When people on here say they remember game X and player Y from 4 years ago and we were playing in our third kit, it amazes me.   I reckon I have attended over 1000 of our games though. So a lot to remember.

Aside from the obvious games that others have quoted I remember

The August 76 pre-season Anglo Scottish cup game at Burnley. I got isolated from my mates and got jumped by a Clarets mob on the way to the game. We lost 1-0. Never liked them!

The Away game at United in 78/79 when Frankie followed up his double at home with a double at OT in our 1-2 win.

Have to mention the April 78 Blackburn win,  Frankie again. Looked it up, scored at the Rovers end from a Roy Greaves (RIP) through pass. 27.8k on of which at least 15k must have been Wanderers fans. Do remember parking half way to Tockholes and the evening walk to the ground.

0-0 v Coventry with the kids out, and in a similar vein the JPT game against Bradford when the takeover was completed and they had to keep opening more and more of the stadium and had to delay kick off

Wilbraham v Forest

PNE play off final

Honourable mention to 5-2 semi final v Villa. Such a surreal night with Okocha really on top form.

Had to have a proper think on this. But I’m going for the Liverpool fa cup replay. Was driving and missed kick off. Remember when we scored the first and hundreds of our fans jumped out of our cars celebrating. Got in 10 mins later. That performance by David Lee is up there with one of the best I’ve seen. I’m going back watching to 77 btw. Just out of interest have we ever had a poster on here who was at the 58 final?

Wanderers 1 - 0 Preston 92/93 ... Sitting on my dads shoulders at Burnden ... The pitch invasion. Think I remember McGinlay throwing his kit, shinnies in to a crowd on the pitch at the end. Good Times.

95 playoff Final ... Being 11,  first and last time I ever went to the old Wembley.

Blackburn 3 - 4 Wanderers ... Best away game I've been to.

Leicester 5-0....top of the league & felt like we were back in the big time to stay.

White Hot..... Just the most perfect giant killing.

Goodison League Cup semi final..... Mayhem when we equalised & I was convinced I was going to Wembley for the first time to watch the Whites.

Such a difficult task to whittle down to just three. In the spirit of the thread title, I’ll focus on moments, rather than full matches.

1. Big Sam’s header against Newcastle to open the scoring in the 3-3 draw in 1976. I was 10 years old and had never been part of such a big crowd: 46k+ at Burnden. The noise was my incredible. This moment only narrowly edged out Malcom MacDonald’s volley about 20 minutes later!

2. Now grown-up, John McGinlay’s header, again opening the scoring, in the 2-0 win at Anfield. Genuinely thought we had blown our chance, after Liverpool grabbed a lucky equaliser at Burnden.

3. Kevin Nolan’s equaliser at Old Trafford in 2001. A really close call with Michael Ricketts winner in same game, the sheer quality of the move and finish meant I definitely celebrated more!

To be honest, ask me the question tomorrow, and I’ll probably give you a different three memorable moments. 😀

Hull - amazing result with 10 men in such a big game, with such carnage

Munich - Celebrating a result in Bayern Munich’s stadium

Utd (Rickets) - Just knew we’d made the big time after this
