Don't give a fuck what anybody else thinks and not reading any further back on this thread. Proud just at witnessing our fantastic support. Popular Post Sweep
Just got back home, after the trains proved to be up the spout again. I've not read back on this thread yet, but today just showed how clinical the top teams are, it's like they don't have to think about what they're doing. Although, we did gift them too many chances. They only need a sniff of a chance, and they're on it. As they should be, given they're one of the best teams in the world. Anyway, let's take the payday, and move on to the weekend, for the more important match.
RoadRunnerFan
1 hour ago, gonzo said: Just not that type of team are we. We were never gonna rock up tonight be total shithouses flying in to tackles and roughing them up. Just haven't got it in us. Not even sure that kind of stuff even exists anymore. The fitness and levels of ability are miles higher than ever before. We beat Arsenal in 94 and they were a team littered with alcoholics. So were we tbf

Cross and pass quickly and don't let them get set as they are too good. We had plenty of chances to just whip it or drive it in and someone should knock it in off the arse. If only we could do this in the league
Ani
On train back, they were miles better than us. We did ok but made silly mistakes.
Wanderlust
It was good of Arteta to show us some respect in sending out some top players and I just hope our lot learned something from the game.
Leyther_Matt
Bit of a Cambridge effort in that the nearest pint post-match was in our own hotel. Despite my best Scottish accent “down here with work”. What a world. Had a few with Geordie Sam and Craigo didn’t want to take the chance at his age. I blame @Steejay Can’t read too much in to the game, they were always better than us and we gave them a bit of a helping hand. Saturday is the only one that matters. Dr Faustus
without trying to sound a sap... 94 we went as opponents the prem years we were feared equals tonight we were tourists- as was a good chunk of the ground just home, enjoyed the atmosphere; the pathetic shit fan in the mid tier refused to show his massive forehead after giving it the biggun never getting a coach again though

Ani
So got home at half 2 , the drive from Donny was bad, spending 20 minutes trying to work how to get off car park was really shit 😂 Paid £35 on way back to upgrade ,4 of us the first class, seemed a bargain. Just watched highlights, Arfield should a lot better with his chance and really fucks up for the first. Looks like a clear penalty. If we score first then who knows, probably still lose. Think the keeper could a lot better on 3 of the goals, third is terrible defending but he should stop it IMO. Overall pretty much as expected, the goal we scored was very good but they were just better than us. Jesus is fast as fuck. Am doing very little today
Moderators Zico Posted September 26 Moderators Share Posted September 26 9 hours ago, Stig said: That's definitely more embarrassing. I think most of the gripes on here are just how preventable a few of the goals were, not the loss. The first especially is inexplicable Yeah agree with that 1st and 3rd were shite and otherwise we could've given ourselves a chance 4th and 5th were arguably poor keeping but very much the type of goals you concede when getting bummed Shame there was no VAR as we'd have had a penalty at 0-0 I reckon
ianofcleveleys
Agreed, was a pen, would have made it interesting / bit of fun for a while if scored. Collins and McAtee did well all night. Stig's right, if there was a gripe it was the manner of the goals conceded. Lower league sides like us aren't going to even run top Prem sides close though if they hand gift goals out like confetti, especially trying to tippy tappy about. Sweep
10 hours ago, gonzo said: What's the john stones song BTW? 10 hours ago, Marc505 said: Embarrassing is what it was. As I stood on the platform at Finsbury Park, a few Bolton lads started singing it a bit further down. Another Bolton fan I was chatting to said "That's excellent, it must really piss them off" - I asked him why, and he proceeded to explain about Stones last minute equaliser at the weekend. As he was taking about it, I could see he realised what a load of shit he was talking. The most amusing aspect was the Arsenal fan who chipped in who said something along three lines of "I couldn't name a single player who has scored against Bolton this season before tonights match, that's probably why we weren't singing other teams player names at you" 😁
Sweep
Talking of singing, I may have been stood in the wrong party, but given the amount of fans we had there, I thought our general atmosphere wasn't great. I was expecting it to be bouncing. I suppose the early goal knocked that out of us. Having said that, Arsenal are very quiet indeed

Leyther_Matt
Bet they didn’t have memberships, either. Come back, Neil! Singing about Stones was possibly one of our support’s cringiest moments, and that’s quite the contest. I know there’s the whole “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” kinda thing, but in real terms City are a huge rival in mopping up support in our area. Essentially no different to all the Bolton Reds of the 90s.
Members Popular Post DazBob
What I found disappointing was that their goals didn't come through them being a top drawer side, they generally came from us being poor. Goal 1 - Arfield trying to kick the ball and missing it. Fuck me. Goal 2 - Dacres-Cogley completely switching off. Sterling was already 10 yards behind him before he realised. Goal 3 - Santos giving Forino the ball with three men converging on him. Goal 4 - Probably the only one where you have to give real credit to Arsenal. Great play from Saka, but Southwood should've done better. Goal 5 - Dacres-Cogley with a powder puff challenge for the ball. Havertz simply wanted it more. I appreciate the days of White Hot are long gone and it's now nigh on impossible for 3rd Division players to compete with the elite, it's just a bit frustrating that it was down to our basic errors rather than their brilliance. Anyway, I'm glad those that made the journey got to see us score a goal, and what a well taken goal it was. But I'm glad this is out of the way now and we can solely focus on the job in hand which is moving up the table.

That was the disappointing thing for me, along with a reluctance do any ugly stuff. Evatt seems to see games like this as a way to put himself and his brand into the spot light, make friends in high places and do things the "right way" - I'm not for one moment saying we could expect anything out of that game, but at least shout for the penalty, get after the ref, put some tackles in and get about them. It all seemed a bit "thanks for inviting us to your party" nicey nicey vibe. Arfield though. Jesus. Did he have a bet on them?
