Well we won, but far from convincing and just feels like cracks being papered.

Hopefully confidence booster for McAtee and Collins, but they don't look like they will form a solid partnership, some words had when McAtee didn't quite round the keeper.

Need serious improvement to convince me this is working.

Looked far too vulnerable at the back for me

Take some positives from the second half particularly the 2 goals from strikers.  Attacked a lot more.

still very vulnerable at the back and too much pissing about with it.

like last week though, the next league game is far more of a test and important

For all those tonight saying it’s delaying the inevitable - fuck off.

Not because you might be wrong. But for coming on here thinking you need to make a point to people who are pointing out some positive aspects of the game.

I think you must be insecure to have to keep making your point, or misguided that people don’t see this game for what it was.

We know this result doesn’t tell us much about what will happen next.

But we are allowed to say that Dempsey played well, it’s good to get 2 strikers scoring goals, it’s good to see the 2nd half come back and see the players playing for each other and the manager.

Glad I went. Another ground ticked off and a win watching the Wanderers which is never a bad thing.

Hippie 😁

Well it was only the tinpot cup & although we were pretty shite first half I thought that we played pretty well second half apart from their only shot (diabolical defending) of that second half.

Small steps & all that , don’t see Collins & McAtee as the two up front mix & match could be the solution with Victor or A N other providing some arial/physical presence.

Dempsey mom.

Bang on.

It's like the comments section on BN or Craig Nonces gaggle of bells on here at the min.

I think we could get some real mileage out of Collins in particular cutting in from the left - the Dapo role if you will

Although I'd also like to see that midfield start in the league (I know we won't but I can't help but think a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 would get more out of what we have)

I also have a sneaking suspicion Matheson's ball retention might offer us a bit more balance on the right-hand side, but I don't know if I really only think that because I want him to do well

I'll take the W however it comes, but possession based football doesn't half bore me to tears.

Onwards and upwards, looking forward to after the break.

But isn't that what most teams play now, admittedly most better than us.

Just a small list of players from memory, who've gone onto much bigger things after being deemed not good enough for us.

A change in manager, coaches, tactics, formation etc can have a massive impact, this is why i can't blame the players and you shoudn't either. The blame can only be pointed in 1 direction, it's time IE showed some grace.

What utter bollocks , do you actually believe the shite youve just spouted ?

Couldnt have given the slightest fuck about the result , I wanted to be entertained . I was , 5 goals could have been 8 , some really good football from both sides , whats not to like ?

Very strange how some folk that would have preferred us to forfit the match are now slagging off the team for winning but not winning good enough .

And then you cant be too negative or you get told to fuck off by a sycophantic cunt 😄

Dempsey man of the match , Matheson a very close second.

Just back, enjoyable night, decent game, Barrow have some good young players and a sprinkling of nouse around them.

As last Tues at Shrews, a win but nothing to get overly enthused about. Woeful first half, bit better second (once Barrow had taken most of their experience off), McAtee a plus, kept positive and trying to make things happen even when we were struggling. Matheson did solidly.

Defensively ropey from start to finish, they scored two, could easily have had two more. Formation still doesn't work, leaves defence vulnerable and increases risk of the playing out from back to suicidal proportions at times.

Good fun night though, couple of beers in the excellent Duke of Edinburgh beforehand and good value food and drink in the ground.

Just got back.

Positives

Lovely pint in Duke of Edinburgh (have visited previously tbf so not a surprise)

Bonus of car park next door to pub having an EV charger

Great pies in the ground

Played really well for 10 minutes and bagged 3 goals

Negatives

The other 80 minutes

The bastard rain

The A590

Progress in this competition 😂

that's appalling , did your ticket say "restricted view"

No it said West Stand but we were actually in the East Stand!   Must have been just a couple of seats away from @desparado. We went to the back of the stand second half where the view was marginally better.

Positives, mcatee and collins scoring

Schon finally ran at his man a couple of times

Matheson looked very comfortable and an attacking threat

Ill not do negatives as we have enough wrist slashers

It was like a partially assembled jigsaw - the pieces were all there but they just wouldn't fit together to make a picture at times. Some good bits, some scary bits and some downright daft bits.

I feel there has to be some way of moulding this lot into a consistently coherent team and playing with less risk at the back and more magic up top.
