Can't be arsed reading the rest. Yesterday hurt like hell.

Been thinking about this "situation", since I woke up.
Yesterday in utter dismay, anger and frustration I cancelled my DD for season ticket! (Will probably reinstate)
Things that I mulled over.
He's brought in Stephen Crainey from Wigan in June, I've never seen us play so consistently poor. The odd off spell, but not constant utter gash.
George Thomason has suddenly become "a bad player"
Brought in Schon, who is worse than Ogbeta, Randall Williams is better than Schon
Brought in Tete who is not a patch on Maghoma
Brought in Forino, who in no way is an improvement or better than Johnstone.
Our front four have the ability to score 100+ between them, yet we haven't scored in 360 minutes of football.
He's either lost the plot, the dressing room, or both, and I don't see how he or his team of support staff can retrieve it.

I genuinely like the guy and what he's nearly done, but can't see a way back.

Thing ghat is even scarier, is who we would bring in......

Just hope this isn't going to be one of those long drawn out processes. Shitty results followed by worsening atmospheres. Get the deed done and let's move on. The more of the season we have to work with the better.

I am reading that as you cancelled your season ticket because we got battered on the 5th game of the season.

Is that correct ?

I think this is personal opinion passing as fact. It's a good squad and could be implemented in just about any system. Footballers are adaptable and has been shown successfully in the past (by BSA) if you don't have a left back then identify someone with the right skill set to play that role within your system who is already at the club be they a left winger or centre forward. Front men play as wide men all the time. Defenders can adapt to midfield (Campo), defenders can adapt to centre forwards (Warhurst) and yes these examples are from decades ago because I'm not a football obsessive and watch little outside of highlights anymore so I've not really got contemporary examples. It's still football though and 442 or 451 or 433 or 532 or midfield diamonds etc can all be covered by talented footballers and we have those. Need a manager now who can mold them into a team and motivate that team.

No this is personal opinion passing as....personal opinion - this being a forum of opinions.

As regards your opinion above, I agree that the system could be changed utilising the current players although it's not ideal. And Evatt could implement that himself if he had a mind to.

Ah, maybe didn't come across as intended. Sorry if it seemed like having a go, wasn't supposed to.

I know somebody at the club who as said to me time and time again he doesn’t like Evatt and he is extremely hard to get on with !

seen this on what appears to be Caneron Jerome's real X.

No punches pulled. He's clearly jot a fan, despite being here only last week. I suspect this reflects other players views also.

Now I feel uncommonly foolish.

I'll get over it.

It's time. I just hope the club acts quickly. This season still holds good potential for us if they stop burning time.

There are some clear and obvious things in football. Premier League football is beyond Steve Cooper. Everton are a basket case. Ten Hag is just not going to succeed at Old Trafford (thankfully). Anything beyond League One also rans is beyond Ian Evatt.

Yes.  When we win a game like Barrow/Shrewsbury and some see it as a confidence booster/ potential turning a corner, I can't help comparing it with when Man U win a game (or even a cup) and it buys Ten Haag more time, and he says the right things about how they are improving.  Every football fan knows he isn't going to succeed at OT, and most of us probably enjoy the fact that when he wins it prolongs his stay there, we don't want him replaced by a better manager.  That's been the case with IE for a long time now, everyone knows his limitations, and the occasional win v Orient or Port Vale just gave him more time to make the situation worse.

Yeah, the difference in resources mean it's inevitable we'll win a decent proportion of games under Evatt. Unless the bottom really has fallen out and the players down tools. But we're talking about having to win 27 out of the next 41 to hit expectations... when Evatt cannot beat a similarly matched side to save his life (and there are more of those in the league this year).

The standards have to be far higher. If he's not going to take us up this year (and he plainly isn't) then anything other than moving on is just wasting time.

Not sure of the relevance of Maghoma - a great signing last season, no longer our player, and Matete looks like another great loan signing but different type of player.

I think Forino is meant to be an upgrade on Jones and Forrester on the right, and he's looked decent enough to me, I think it was a free transfer and seems a good signing, Johnstone is left footed (playing Toal instead of him is a different discussion).

Not sure where you get that from.  100 goals??  25 each??  I'm a big fan of Collins because he's a good footballer but in my wildest dreams he isn't getting 25 if he plays every minute of every game and the others are inferior.  25 league goals from open play from all 4 put together is a stretch.

Whatever anyone’s opinions of Evatt the man, yesterday was clearly a tough day for him (as well as us supporters). I find the personal judgements around mental health, bullying, etc pretty distasteful as it’s serves no purpose to discuss it.

It’s pretty clear that he’ll meet with Sharon and some others in the next day or two and, by Weds, they’ll have parted by mutual consent.

Have opinions about his tactics by all means, but I think we just need to let this play out.

It’s worth remembering that the staff and players are all his (and almost to a man believe in him). The change to a new manager won’t be easy. There’ll probably be a short term bounce as there usually is. But new staff, new systems, etc can take a long time to embed. I hope I’m wrong but there’ll be a lot of upheaval at the end of the season with players out of contract, frustrated big money signings and a team of investors unlikely to back a new manager to the same level (this will also affect the calibre of manager were able to attract).

no mate

your reading that as i’ve been going for 53 years and have arthritis in my knees and half the lads i used to go with don’t go anymore and sometimes i can’t be arsed with the pain (physical) of going the game, as the crack isn’t the same.

I’ve been plovdiv, Munich, Lisbon, Madrid, Guineares, Barrow, Cambridge, and seen us win at all top six of premier league away.

Half the time i end up watching paying (again) by VPN..

we lose and i’m in a bad mood and it ruins (like most fans) weekend. I think i’ve just fell out of love with game.

but you judge/think in whatever way you please chief

We all go through to that from time to time .

Have a virtual hug from your new mate and reinstate the DD.

I can't do much about the arthritis though

Ic footballs putting you in a mood then step away.

I walked out Saturday shell shocked but shrugged it off and enjoyed the day out, think it costs a small fortune for 4 of us and I'm not going to let a loss ruin my mood, life goes on.

We're not Bolton fans for the glory:p

FWIW the DD has been reinstated 🤨

Knees are extremely sore mainly due to inclement weather.

We have been sold a pup with Schon though.

The Schon signing, taking into account the reported fee and the fact that its presumably more effort all round to bring in a foreign signing, is up there with the £300k for Dan.  Ashworth and Iredale both offer far more and we made no effort to keep either and use that money elsewhere.  Its mind boggling.
