Must admit I was expecting an off your seat type player like ameobi, dapo who would drive and cut in, maybe he’s being held back but yeah no defender Quote
FrancisFogarty Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Sadly, truth is we’ve got too many part players. Can either pass, or tackle or read the game or shoot. Well not shoot obviously. But we’ve not got the complete player even for the third division. Quote
Farnywhite Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) Listened to is interview and he admits he doesn’t know how to lift the cloud from Wembley he sounds like he needs a break from the game . Unfortunately any new manager is going to be stuck with the squad they do seem a bit of a spineless bunch Edited September 15, 2024 by Farnywhite Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 I couldn't second guess the thoughts of the Swiss group but I've got a nagging feeling Sharon might look at our run of upcoming fixtures and hope some wins might calm everything down and give Evatt the opportunity to ride it out Quote
tomski Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 My take/guess is as follows: (no itk claims here) Everyone internally knows he’s going and has done for a little while. Players playing shite cos they know it’s coming and have downed tool’s consciously or subconsciously. Evatt has been talking up himself and his record thinking ahead of the next job. Owners are using this as time to get the new man in quickly. Shazza may be moving on to as the old guard stands down too. Quote

Yesterday didn’t look great, but I think that was a group of ‘beaten’ players rather than a group that aren’t playing for him. Everything I hear is that they’re (virtually) all behind him. Evatt will get another job. Don’t be surprised if he rocks up in the Championship! He’s highly rated in the game. Also highly doubt Sharon going anywhere. Let’s see what happens this week first. I don’t think a replacement will happen quickly personally and I’d expect another young manager to come in. We’re a ‘project’ club now, which rules out quite a few. Evatts biggest issue is that we’re at home next week. If we were away, I think the board would give him another game or two. Anyway, he wants out. Just a question of which day this week he goes. radcliffe white Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 I’m sorry but no championship club will take Evatt Quote

If a championship club want him then good luck to them. Only bothered about his time here. Good to hear he’s realised it’s time too. I liked the idea of a young up and coming manager and thought Evatt was perfect at the time. If they are all pep light disciples then I’d have anyone but. Like you said let’s see. Quote

Like you said let’s see. Not keen on the idea of a young and upcoming manager taking the reins when the season has already started Much prefer that type of appointment when they have a pre season to go at For me we'd need some one with experience who has come in mid season before and got a club on the right track Someone like Neil or even Rowett (even though I've questioned if he's actually any good in the past) If we're going for an ex player link get Moyes and Nolan back together Quote

Deanu Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 Sharon will do naff for the time being. Allowing Evatt to use most of the budget on bringing in the likes of Crainey/McAtee/Schon/Tutu to then paying Evo & his backroom staff off 6 weeks into the season to then go spend more money on an entirely new coaching team would basically be admitting to getting the summer massively wrong after she did a "full entire check of the club" over the off season to supposedly leave no stone unturned or something along them lines. She's got too much respect and affinity for Evatt to get shot in this manner, once Evatt admitted he had a long dwell about whether he wanted to stay on that should have been a massive red flag, he's broken from successive play off losses & inability to get up playing his fantasyland pep wet dream football. If our next 3 games were Birmingham, Wrexham and Huddersfield I could understand thinking a new manager still won't get many points, but playing middling teams like Reading, Crawley, Northampton, our only realistic chance of winning a few is to get us organised into a coherent unit without wasting even more of this season. The players in the main look like they are busting a gut, the only exception I'd make yesterday is that Charles didn't look like he gave a stuff in the 1st half, and rightly got subbed. The 3 CBs were playing well and throwing themselves into tackles for at least till it was 0-3 and game over. Schon may be limited but he always looks like he's trying his best, positive body language. Matete played well and tried hard, nobody doubts Tomo's committment surely? Collins his usual self when he can get involved. Vic is the same Vic. McAtee was definitely trying when he came on. When we were losing at home to Wigan and Carlisle a year ago nobody was saying the players had downed tools were they? It seems easy to say but hard to justify. Quote

And that's where I'm struggling with him getting a championship job, unless he's going to fill the Scott Parker role of getting practically Premier League squads promoted to the Premier League. I just can't see him being tactically versatile enough for the championship. Quote
radcliffe white Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 His CV is pretty decent and like any interview you put a good show on you have a chance, but the way we fell away last season and our start so far will be a red flag Quote
