Sounded like he wanted to be off after the playoff final.  It's just ran its course.

Can imagine him admitting he should have gone then in some interview he does further down the line when he's fixed up elsewhere

And saying the club begged him to stay even though he knew he couldn’t do more and it’s not his fault

He’s said a few times over the last 12 months or so if it wasn’t working or he wasn’t enjoying it he would walk away. He may need a break but pretty sure he’ll resurface somewhere else, if his time with us is anything to go by he’s a club owners dream .

This last week will have been a tough one for SB who has consistently talked about running it in the way she would any other business

To lose 2 of the top 5? in any business is unsettling

I was no fan of hart but structure, continuity and a plan are SBs way and im wondering if her influence is diminishing fast

Evatts remarks about talking to the owners, would, imo, have been 'talk to Sharon' 12 months ago

I dunno about dream, pretty sure him and SB will have had at least 2 very awkward conversations during his time here...

Your username reminded me that someone suggested Per as a replacement today on twitter. Mad days.

Toxic fanbase

His post match comments I find most strange.  It had all the fight of his players in the second half

Instead of coming out fighting he slagged off the fans and bemoaned not having a big man to throw up top.  It's an admission of some kind his system is flawed, bordering on delusional.

He's had it mostly his own way and still has some kind of persecution complex.

I suppose it was never realistic to expect a 90 point season given the late rebuild, play off hangover,  pre season fitness problems and not having the spending power of a Birmingham. Maybe he has had little control of recruitment, not that he deserves any excuses.  It's not clear the relationship between FV and the Swiss, this storm is hopefully opportunity to resolve.

Does feel like we're on the cusp of quite big changes. Can only hope whatever happens goes smoothly, we can't get mired in this league for (more) years

It sounded tired, exasperated, defeated and like a half hearted parting shot to me. He was just phoning those interviews in I'm sure of it, he knew the game was up.

Indeed, didn’t know he was coaching.

Championship club for Evatt?! On what basis other than the perception he's "progressive"

Exactly that.

Wayne Rooney is currently a manager in the championship. Clubs will take a punt because, as we’re about to find out, there ain’t exactly a huge number of amazing managers out there.

The longer it goes on the more I think, they'd have sacked him by now..

I thought the earliest there'd be an announcement would be tomorrow morning

It wouldn't seem the FV (or certainly Sharon) way for their to be an earlier announcement, and I think that'd be the right thing regardless

I have wondered, however, if it might be the case Evatt wants to call it quits but the board (or again, certainly Sharon) want him to stick it our

It'll be mutual consent

He probably needs some time off (for his sake), come back in spring when there are Championship jobs available

That's fantasy land.  If a championship club is sacking its manager after Christmas, its near the bottom and just wants results to avoid relegation.  A Big Sam, Warnock, Rowett, Dyche, Moyes type.  IE may be able to build a "project" in the long term (Blackpool obviously) but he's last manager anyone would bring in to be hard to beat and grind out results.

In what world does someone walk away from guaranteed income? I’d go as far as saying I bet there hasn’t been a manager in the last 5 years that has left a club, without going to a new club, that hasn’t had a pay out.

Bigger question for me will be the settlement of the shares. I’d be intrigued to see the mechanism for that and the potential value. He’s got what, 2% ish? Based on the government covid loan settlement (valuing at £60m) that would be £1.2m of cash outflow that they’d rather not have, although that was a ridiculously good deal and we’re clearly not worth anywhere near that so I’d imagine it’s closer to half that - plus paying up his contract and any staff that are going with him. Probably close to £2m cash out before we even look at who comes in. Ouch

What the shares were valued at then has no bearing on their value now. In the market today they would be worth nowhere near the value you’re estimating. There are also different classes of shares which also affect their value.

Listened to is interview and he admits he doesn’t know how to lift the cloud from Wembley he sounds like he needs a break from the game

. Unfortunately any new manager is going to be stuck with the squad they do seem a bit of a spineless bunch

Doesn't worry me this. I have seen unbelievable transformations with arrival of the right motivational manager.

Might be early days but it looks like this might be happening at Napoli right now.

Just hope we appoint the right bloke. L/H White will probably want a woman.

I don’t think players have downed tools as such. Yesterday didn’t look great, but I think that was a group of ‘beaten’ players rather than a group that aren’t playing for him. Everything I hear is that they’re (virtually) all behind him.

Evatt will get another job. Don’t be surprised if he rocks up in the Championship! He’s highly rated in the game.

Also highly doubt Sharon going anywhere.

Let’s see what happens this week first. I don’t think a replacement will happen quickly personally and I’d expect another young manager to come in. We’re a ‘project’ club now, which rules out quite a few.

Evatts biggest issue is that we’re at home next week. If we were away, I think the board would give him another game or two. Anyway, he wants out. Just a question of which day this week he goes.

He's a shareholder so he could sell his shares I suppose, but I'd have thought that shares have nothing to do with a settlement deal unless there's some weird contractual arrangement that forces the club to buy them back on his departure. Theoretically he could remain a shareholder long after he's gone - and the onus to sell them should be on him if that's what he wants.

If he goes, we have a huge headache, having such a relatively diminutive squad for a new manager to work with.

As IE said himself:

“How can we change when we have got no physicality at the top end of the pitch? We have recruited to be technical and to build (from the back) and that requires confidence. But if you are going to tell us to start going direct and being risk free we haven’t got the physicality in there to do it."

“We tried in the second half with Victor but aerially that isn’t his game. His hold-up play is really good but he’s not like a Kiefer Moore, Peter Crouch, that big number nine, the guys they brought on. You could see the physical difference between the two teams and it showed on the pitch.”

I'm struggling to identify any unemployed manager who specialises in working with "technical players" (or is mad enough to move Toal to the centre, bring on another CB and chuck Santos up top to cause chaos when you're getting battered and have no out ball :) )

If he goes, I just hope we don't get held to ransom by a managerial cowboy but with our current squad it's a big ask for any manager.

Would of thought him owning shares would be a problem if he gets another job say a team in league one conflict of interest
