VividDreamer
The current situation has a familiar tone, it reminds of the shitshow back in league two just before we played Mansfield and won 3-2. And then went on to gain promotion. I do hope this feeling of dejavu bears similar fruit

I'm struggling to think of any of our current outfield players that are playing below their true level and that's not a dig at them as we have some good players, but there's no logic to suggest they can go on a run anything like the L2 promotion one, especially with a manager that gets out-thought tactically. We are only 3 games in. And we were very nearly good enough last season. Seasons not over yet

Site Supporter FrancisFogarty Posted September 3 Site Supporter Share Posted September 3 It was absolutly shite if it actually happened. We've all seen our arses over it, most have calmed down now and can see it for what it was. A shit day at work, but only 3 dropped points. We've had them before, and certainly will again. I'm no longer scribbling 'IE out' on my bedsheets, i just hope I can get felt tip out of them before Mrs.Fogarty sees 'em.. I'm back to my default setting 'It'll be reet'. Seasons not over yet Or put another way, we weren't good enough last season, the league has got tougher, our squad has got weaker, our previously useful formation has been found out and we've wasted 3 of our first 4 games 😀. I'm saying this in a light hearted way before anyone jumps on it as negative. I agree there's 42 games left to put it right. Only purpose of my original post was to acknowledge that the L2 team that went up shouldn't have been playing in L2 really (the post Christmas version of the squad). Different now, we are a L1 squad competing against other L1 squads.

OK the whole squad isn't weaker as in we have more back up with Lolos, Forino etc. But in terms of 1st teamers likely to play any time soon, we lost 3 left backs who all looked more effective than Schon to me (I'd love to be proved wrong long term). And LWB is crucial to how we play, we can have 10 CBs but its not going to help us get crosses in. Lost JDB and Jerome and not replaced their physicality/nous, and we couldn't afford to get any weaker in that department as everyone knew. Lost Maghoma, creative spark not replaced, maybe McAtee can offer something but its nowhere to be seen yet. Lost Morley but happy that Matete is an upgrade. BOWTUN BAKED
Or we could go back to 4-2-3-1 The move that got us promoted from league 2, certainly have the personnel for it

I think it's a pipedream though, if we were at all considering it we would have added a CM or two for depth and not sold Iredale as our only natural LB. I've put like a depth chart together, you can see it's very thin/weak in key areas.
gonzo
I don't see one area where it's thin or weak. Edited September 4 by gonzo
Members DazBob
Aye, most clubs in this division would love to have that kind of depth.
